Republican House candidate Joe Heck launched a Spanish language ad today, the first targeting Latinos in Nevada's 3rd Congressional District.
Democratic Rep. Dina Titus has yet to roll out Spanish media. Early voting begins Saturday.
"It is critically important to the success of our campaign that we embrace the diversity of our district," Heck said.
About 27 percent of Nevadans are Hispanic. Latino voters played a key role in 2008 elections - they comprised 15 percent of voters - but turnout is expected to be lower this cycle.
Historically, Hispanic voters tend to favor Democrats, but Heck hopes his commercials tilt them toward the GOP.
Heck's ad is friendly and informational. It introduces him as an emergency room doctor, Army reservist, small businessman and father.
Heck said he also plans to unveil a Spanish language website.

Looks like Heck sold out to the evil "illegals" - I guess I'll have to vote AIP.
"I really love YOU PEOPLE, really I do, always singing and dancing...why I even ate a jalepeno pepper once..." Vote for me....
Republican asking for hispanic votes = LOLz
Joe Heck must have a screw loose.
No Hispanic, in his right mind, would ever vote
for a greedy republican.
SAVE OUR STATE FROM REPUBLICAN GREED,
VOTE DINA TITUS.
"HOE-LA"!
I am Candidate HECK...
Vote for me, and I will get you work handling Nuclear Waste materials up at Yucca Mountain! "You guys" are hard workers, and do not care so much what working conditions are, or what pittance you are paid, unlike our lazy Americans.
GRASS-ee-US~!
