LIFEPAC, the state political action committee for Nevada Right to Life, announced today their slate of candidates for endorsement in November elections.

Not surprisingly, Republicans dominate the list. A few candidates from the Independent American Party also are included, but no Democrats made the cut.

"Each of these candidates has demonstrated, through experience, activity and belief, a desire to protect the unborn and infirm,” LIFEPAC Executive Director Jeremy McNeil said. “LIFEPAC’s goal is to seek candidates for public office who respect the sanctity of human life, and these individuals clearly merit LIFEPAC’s support.”

Endorsed were:

Secretary of State - John Wagner (IAP)

Assembly District 2 - John Hambrick (R)

Assembly District 5 – Tim Williams (R)

Assembly District 6 – Carole Long (R)

Assembly District 8 – Joe Egan (R)

Assembly District 15 – Stan Vaughan (IAP)

Assembly District 21 – Les McKay (IAP)

Assembly District 22 – Lynn Stewart (R)

Assembly District 25 – Pat Hickey (R)

Assembly District 32 – Ira Hansen (R)

Assembly District 38 – Dennis C. Gomez (IAP)

Washoe Senate District 1 – Phillip Salerno (R)

Washoe Senate District 2 – Don Gustavson (R)

State Senate District 5 – Michael Roberson (R)

State Senate District 12 – Joe Hardy (R)

LIFEPAC earlier this year endorsed Republican Sharron Angle for U.S. Senate.

  1. In the event of incest/rape the answer for me is the crime victim should decide. Good point BobbyG.

  2. So I guess all these people want a woman who is reaped to have to carry the baby to term and make lemonade from these lemons!

Remember that on election day folks!

  3. If men could get pregnant, the right to abortion would not be debated.

  4. Should read "LIFEPAC gives kiss of death to republican candidates". Self righteous christian right needs to quit trying to dictate their BS morality on the majority of Americans who don't buy it. Thanks for the list of "who not to vote for"

  5. I always wondered how the religious right can be against abortion but for the death penalty?

  6. @BobbyG...what if said victim wants to carry the child to term? Many victims in these circumstances abort, and then regret it deeply forever. Is it the baby's fault that he/she was concieved by rape, or is that child innocent? Allowing a baby to be born doesn't seem like such an extreme or dangerous idea to me.

  7. As a male, I say that this decision is strictly between the mother and whoever she wishes to consult. I am tempted to say the biological father might also have an interest, but ultimately it is the woman's choice.

I have yet to hear any arguments against this that do not have religious views at their root.

  8. Another attempt by religious nuts to regulate (oppress) the rest of us through the imposistion of their own questionable morality.

  9. Sorry, I misspelled "imposition".

  10. "...is an ovum fertilized in the uterus of a teenager upon being raped by her father..."

BobbyG -- actually fathers are the least likely of all males to abuse their daughters in any way. California grand juries in the early 1990s determined that after exhaustive studies.

I quite agree with your "seek to IMPOSE via law THEIR abstract judgment on a vulnerable other" statement and what seems to be your intent behind it -- it is all about controlling others by getting government to enforce their own moral code. Only one of the many reasons I despise organized religions and their zealots.

boftx -- my opinion has always been unless one has a womb, or one's DNA baking in one, no opinion has any validity at all.

"If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament." -- Florynce Kennedy (1916-2000), civil rights activist and attorney

  11. On a side note, I honestly don't see how the Republican Party can reconcile their views on limiting government intrusion into private life with their views on abortion.

    It is logically inconsistent.

But then again, the Democrats should have trouble reconciling their views on protecting future generations and putting them deep in debt before they are ever born.

  12. "intrusion into private life "

Excellent choice of words....with the key word being LIFE.

Yes, many Democrats don't believe a person is a person until they are outside of the body of the mother. So they are Ok with people like Tiller the Baby Killer drilling holes in babies heads and sucking the brains out right before the baby escapes the birth canal.

Some Republicans believe differently. That a person might be a person before they leave the birth canal.

People have the right to live. I pretty sure that is somewhere in the US Constitution.

  13. Are those things that resemble "little tadpoles" that are a product of the behavior Republican Tea Party Senate Candidate O'Donnell disapproves of considered "Life?" If so, I guess we have to have a funeral for the hapless "potential people" every time a 15 year old cracks the pages of that magazine he hides under his mattress.

  14. @Tony, there's a big difference between an unborn child and a convicted murderer: The child is innocent.
@BobbyG-"not a baby"? It sure could be, couldn't it? Life is precious, from natural beginning to its natural end. That's what Sharroon Angle believes, but she's not running for supreme court, is she? Why have a teenage victim endure another act of violence just because they have already been through one? The only people to argue for abortions are ones who never had to endure one.

  15. The problem with religious conservatives is that they wish to use the political process to impose their morality upon the rest of us.

That is the exact same problem with social liberals.

  16. I can't fathom why any woman would cast a vote for Angle.
She would drag them back to the proverbial cave by their hair. "Ooh Ga, boooga!"

The self-righteous piety exhibited by the extreme right-wing NutJobs on this particular matter is an effort to secure a voting block rather than rights for eggs & sperm.

  17. Glad_trash_bag.....yeah right....and yet you run away from my questions like a little girl.

Here is a taste of how your arguments work out:

Scalia said that the moon is not made of peanut butter therefore he is saying it is made of cheese because cheese is not peanut butter.

    Excellent point.....

Another point of fact.....even though you may think your blog is the king of the intellectual world....I am sorry to inform you....it is not.

  18. Are you all to young to remember illegal abortions?
Better to have it done in a sterile environment by a medical professional than in a back alley by some scumbag who kills mother and fetus. Your freedom ends where my nose begins, you and the government have no authority over any single womans(or mans) body. You want separation of church and state unless it's your church and it's teachings. I don't like abortion, but I don't pretend to tell anyone else what to do, I can only extend advice.
