Wayne Newton is making a return to Casa de Shenandoah

Casa de Shenandoah

The Casa de Shenandoah sign, returned to the property on Sunset and Pecos roads, as shown on Dec. 13, 2014.

Mr. Las Vegas is ending 2014 by making some major news in his Old Vegas neighborhood.

Returned to the corner of Sunset and Pecos roads is the famous Casa de Shenandoah sign, marking the location of the longtime home and ranch developed over several decades by Wayne Newton.

This is a sign, all right. Only two people are authorized to use the name and brand of Casa de Shenandoah for such a public purpose: Wayne Newton and his wife, Kathleen. The return of that name to the property, along with reports of Arabian horses being transported back to stables at the ranch, means one thing:

Wayne Newton is moving back to Casa de Shenandoah.

The long-latent plans for a Wayne Newton museum on the 40-acre Shenandoah site are back in motion, with Wayne and Kathleen having taken back the property with a plan to revive the public attraction.

The Newtons’ imminent return to the property and the revival of the museum project has been confirmed by Newton’s sister-in-law, Tricia McCrone. When asked about the return of the Shenandoah sign and activity at the ranch, McCrone said the family is to hoping open the museum by the middle of 2015.

The long-term plans are for the family to return to Shenandoah and again make the ranch their Las Vegas residence. (As a matter of disclosure, McCrone and I have co-hosted the radio show “Kats With the Dish” since February 2011, and we have been close friends for many years.)

More will be revealed, of course, but Wayne Newton is coming home. Believe that sign.
