As our field of 16 combatants in this year’s Chase for the Golden Nerf completes the front nine this week, it’s a cluttered leaderboard to say the least. Of course, in this contest, that’s just par for the course.
Mirage headliner Terry Fator set a blistering pace early, but a few weeks in the rough has allowed the other competitors to make up some ground. How close is it? Seven other members of the group of local celebrities and media are within three picks of the top spot.
Fator’s 14-10 mark against the point spread is closely trailed by Planet Hollywood comedy hypnotist Marc Savard, who sits at 12-10-2. John Katsilometes of The Kats Report is 12-11-1, and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, “Mr. Las Vegas” Wayne Newton and Raiding the Rock Vault star Andrew Freeman are all bunched at 12-12.
Defending champ and Flamingo headliner Donny Osmond is next at 11-12-1, and Fox 5 personality Jason Feinberg is 11-13, within a week of being possibly tied for the lead.
With half the season to go, everyone is still alive in this historic battle for pride, bragging rights and a spray-painted foam football. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
