Mary Wilson has been waiting for a break in Las Vegas, which seems odd to say of a founding member of The Supremes.

But Wilson has long been trying to find a home to perform somewhere in the city, having played Cabaret Jazz in The Smith Center for the Performing Arts with her Lena Horne retrospective show, and there are her own classic-hits shows set for Suncoast Showroom from May 11-12. She’s even put her Las Vegas home up for sale and investigated acting classes in Hollywood.

Wilson was in the audience at Cab Jazz on Sunday for the spellbinding “Frank and Friends” show starring Frank Wildhorn, Jane Monheit and Clint Holmes. Afterward, she said she is on the cusp of signing on for two nights a week at Sands Showroom at The Venetian, working around Human Nature’s schedule in the refurbished theater.

Unless someone falters near the finish line, the show would realize a long-term goal of Wilson’s to perform regularly anywhere in Vegas. Almost a year ago, as she prepped for her Horne production, she contemplating moving overseas, where her The Supremes-spiced shows were a big hit.

““My biggest desire now is to find something regular in Las Vegas,” she said in a column from last year, “and if I don’t find it, I might be moving to London. … I’m still so active, I am always moving forward, and I need to be somewhere where I can move forward.”

Details on The Venetian shows are upcoming. But with Human Nature and Wilson onstage, Sands Showroom is the city’s one-stop shopping for Motown hits.
