Now we know what happens when a production starring a green witch shares a venue with a bunch of composers led by Keith Thompson:
A cluster of vehicles in need of a place to park.
The parking at Smith Center for the Performing Arts is being adjusted for the return of Composers Showcase on Wednesday night, with the main parking structure being opened up for an uncommonly large volume of fans at the Center. Typically, the surface lots are used for shows at Reynolds Hall. The garage has been used for Composers Showcase.
The Showcase performance is at Cabaret Jazz at 10:30 p.m., which runs into the audience leaving “Wicked” at Reynolds Hall that evening. Tickets to the Showcase are $20, available at the Smith Center website. The lineup of composers on Wednesday are Michael Brennan, Vita Corimbi, Bill Fayne, Benjamin Hale, Christopher Lash, Richard Oberacker, Bernadette A. Sebastiani, Michael Spadoni, Mark Wherry, Ashton Zyer and Thompson himself.
The Showcase moved into Cabaret Jazz after the Smith Center opened in March. So far, the show has soared, even if it lacks a broom-riding main character. For that, go next door.
