Michael Grimm working on new CD, and it will be ‘swampy’

Michael Grimm is the subject of a lengthy cover story in the current issue of Las Vegas Weekly, a story of such duration you’d say, “No fact about Michael Grimm was held back for this story!”

Not so.

Grimm is working on a new CD of original material, “Southern Fairytales,” which he is recording at his home studio with songwriting partner Kevin Hunter.

The release is due in October. A native of Waveland, Miss., who has lived in Las Vegas for 11 years, the “America’s Got Talent” Season 5 champ describes the release as “real swampy.” So, when listening, wear a pair of waterproof gaiters.

As for Grimm’s live performances, he should issue a special Michael Grimm calendar to keep track: He headlines at Ovation at Green Valley Ranch each Saturday, at Access Showroom at Aliante every fourth Friday of the month and on Thursdays at E String Nightclub off West Sunset Road in Henderson. The last is an acoustic set. For the shows at Ovation and Access, he’s added a horn section — the “swampiest” horn section in the city, too.
