Got a question for Wayne Newton? Or a favorite story? Send it over

Leila Navidi

Wayne Newton performs during the grand opening night of Wayne Newton’s “Once Before I Go” at the Tropicana in Las Vegas Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009.

Coming Sunday morning in the Las Vegas Sun newspaper and Web site will be a story focusing on Wayne Newton’s history and legacy in Las Vegas, pegged to what is likely his last Strip residency, the show “Once Before I Go” at the Tropicana.

We would like you to be involved in the process, too. If you have a question for The Wayner, or would like to share a particular story or anecdote, visit our Ask Wayne page and send us your question or story. We’ll send the best 10 or so questions to Wayne to answer next week, and we’ll publish his responses along with your stories.

  1. Mr. Las Vegas:

Will "Once Before I Go" be your last professional appearance on the Fabulous Las Vegas Strip?

  2. Wayne, I appreciate your serrvice in entertaining the troops and all the benefit concerts you preform. As a person and a preformer you're great, but I've always wondered why it has been so important for you to maintain the 'Vegas image rather than making the changes other entertaqiners have sucessfuly made such as updating looks or moving from Pop to Rock to Country? I would love to see a Wayne Newton album in the top 10 or a Wayne Newton release played on a top country station.

  3. It was either 1974 or 1975. My neighbor somehow heard you were at Boulevard Mall. We hurried not to miss you. I was so nervous as I stood in line and waited my turn for your autograph. You gently bent down and signed my piece of paper. Thank you Mr. Newton, for taking the time to make a 15 year old girl feel so special in that moment. You will forever "stand tall" in my eyes. I will definitely see your show at the Tropicana!

  4. Wayne,

What direction you see the future of Las Vegas strip entertainment going? , Young up and coming stars? Country music headliners?, Cultural Music?,International stars? anyone they can get?

It would be wonderful to get Class Act Entertainment, such as yourself, back in Vegas !!

  5. Mr Newton,
please hand over the mantel of Mr Vegas to that fat guy Garth Brooks

  6. Wayne,
It was the early 70's and you were here in Cleveland playing at Music Carnival. It was a large tent over a circular stage and needless to say, hot as blazes in the summer heat. The lighting consisted of 4 people sitting above the stage on some railing. In the middle of your act, one of the girl's passed out from the heat and fell straight into the orchestra pit. To your credit Sir, you never missed a beat and the show went on. You were great as usual, I must say.

  7. Mr. Newton,

How important was your acquittal of having mob ties in that suit in the 1970s when now AGA president Frank Fahrenkopf defended you? Did that save your career?

  8. Hi Wayne,
Me again. I have a question that I've always wondered about. Why do you not use your first name of Carson? In my opinion (which I respect)it's a classy name.
    Judy
