Faux sure: Impersonator-palooza in Vegas for New Year’s Eve

Back in August, in a story about Las Vegas' primo Neil Diamond impersonator, I got to thinking out loud on the page:

"Wouldn't it be hilarious if someone put together a Woodstock-style outdoor festival in Vegas starring only tribute bands? Imagine the amazing lineup possibilities: You could have the Beatles and the Who, Elvis and the Ramones... Just putting it out there."

Now, I'm sure this had nothing to do with me, but someone is doing it! The Fremont Street Experience is packing three stages with the world's best (available) classic rock replicants for New Year's Eve, including simulacra of the Eagles (tribute act: The Long Run), David Bowie (Michael Brighton), U2 (2U), Aerosmith (Aeromyth), Billy Joel (Michael John), KISS (The Original KISS Army), the Rolling Stones (Satisfaction) and Queen (Queen Nation), with a premiere of a new KISS-themed Viva Vision show.

It's starts at 6 p.m. on December 31, and tickets are $20. More info here

If this goes well, maybe someone will go for that tribute festival idea...
