You’ve seen him on television as an Ultimate Fighter -- or perhaps from your very own ringside seats. This Friday, see him in person and hear him discuss the book he’s written. Forrest Griffin, a fighter and now author, will be at signing copies of his book, “Got Fight” at 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble , 567 N. Stephanie St.

Griffin is a mixed-martial arts trainer at Warrior Training Center in Las Vegas, has been a coach for the show The Ultimate Fighter, a UFC fighter, a police officer, and also has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Georgia. He has accomplished all of this before the age of 30.

“Got Fight” is described as a “manifesto more strategic than Sun Tzu’s The Art of War” and also “more philosophical than Bruce Lee’s Tao of Jeet Kune Do.”

The synopsis of the book says that you will learn “true mental toughness -- whether it’s scraping it out in the octagon or picking up chicks.”

Barnes & Noble says that “In this hard-as-knuckles book, the mixed-martial arts maestro shares his favorite stories in and outside the fight octagon and delineates 50 key Zen principles for ultimate survival and triumph.”
