Bishop Gorman Beats Chandler

Bishop Gorman High School’s Biaggio Ali-Walsh (7) breaks away and scores on a 55-yard touchdown run during a game against Chandler (Ariz.) High School at Bishop Gorman Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015. Bishop Gorman beat Chandler 35-14.

Three Bishop Gorman High football players have earned preseason All-American honors from Maxpreps, the site announced this week.

It’s no surprise considering the players — quarterback Tate Martell, running back Biaggio Ali-Walsh and defensive lineman Haskell Garrett — have been key contributors the past two seasons in Gorman’s national championship seasons.

The 6-foot-2, 300-pound Garrett, an Ohio State commit, has recorded 132 tackles and 17.5 sacks over the past two seasons.

Martell has a 30-0 record in his two years at Gorman, which hasn’t lost since the 2013 season. Also committed to Ohio State, he passed for 5,146 yard and 72 touchdowns with just eight interceptions the past two seasons, and rushed for 1,037 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Ali-Walsh made a splash last year in his first season as the Gaels' feature back, rushing for 2,451 yards and 33 touchdowns to become the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year.

Gorman, which opens the season in late-August, is ranked No. 3 in the preseason by Maxpreps.
