Keefer's Picks
Last Week:
14-2
137-28 (.830)
Myloe Lewis is again the difference for Cheyenne.
Cheyenne 33, Boulder City 22
Would have picked Boulder City in an upset a couple weeks ago, but Cheyenne is playing too well now.
Cheyenne 38, Boulder City 28
Moapa Valley never loses home games in November.
Moapa Valley 43, Mojave 13
Moapa Valley has as special group of players this year.
Moapa Valley 48, Mojave 20
Gorman is five wins away from a fourth straight title.
Bishop Gorman 56, Shadow Ridge 0
This game alone will serve as an argument against the expanded playoffs.
Bishop Gorman 70, Shadow Ridge 7
Just like earlier this year, Durango will give Centennial a fight.
Centennial 24, Durango 13
Bulldogs have two of the most underrated players in the city — defensive lineman Jordan Karst and all-purpose star Lantz Worthington.
Centennial 34, Durango 8
Arbor View advances to the Sunset semifinals for the third straight year.
Arbor View 51, Desert Oasis 0
Clear the way Centennial vs. Arbor View II next week.
Arbor View 40, Desert Oasis 7
It’s not easy, but Palo Verde advances.
Palo Verde 32, Legacy 25
Major upset, as the Longhorns defense puts the clamps on the Panthers offense.
Legacy 16, Palo Verde 14
Regular season finale sure feels like a playoff game.
Basic 31, Coronado 27
I’ve stared at the screen for the last five minutes until I realized the computer wouldn’t make a pick for me.
Basic 24, Coronado 23
Del Sol finally gets a win. Still shocked.
Del Sol 40, Eldorado 31
Cameron Lamont bids farewell with more than 200 rushing yards.
Del Sol 42, Eldorado 20
This game won’t be like the classic Liberty-Foothill showdowns of the past.
Liberty 32, Foothill 13
Patriots aren’t a lock to come out of the Sunrise region, but they’re going to win big here.
Liberty 35, Foothill 10
GV finishes Northeast play undefeated.
Green Valley 36, Silverado 18
I knew a surprise team would win the Northeast. I just accidentally said “Silverado” when I meant “Green Valley”.
Green Valley 48, Silverado 13
Canyon Springs secures a home playoff game.
Canyon Springs 43, Las Vegas 24
These are similar teams. Don’t count out the Wildcats.
Canyon Springs 27, Las Vegas 21
Valley grabs its first league win in final game of the season.
Valley 32, Rancho 19
Can’t pick the upset here.
Valley 22, Rancho 16

Canyon Springs 45 Las Vegas 20
Vegas may not admit it to themselves but they're playing a superior team in Canyon Springs.
Myloe Lewis 38 Boulder City 21
The one man show tears up a respectable Boulder City defense.
Green Valley 44 Silverado 22
In the Geographically Incorrect Bowl, these SE schools play in their final NE league game. Outcome has no affect on playoffs, just egos and momentum. Lots of bench warmers will get to play.
Valley 40 Rancho 14
These schools can't wait to be relegated to Div IA.
Liberty 44 Foothill 20
With the outcome having no affect on playoff seeding, this is pretty much a scrimmage.
Basic 33 Coronado 31 Game of the Week
Loser plays Canyon next week. Cougars have home field advantage, Basic has chip on their shoulders.
Del Sol 50 Eldorado 14
Too bad for Eldorado this isn't a soccer game. Del Sol goes out with a bang.
Moapa Valley 45 Mojave 18
I think it's great that Mojave is growing school pride and confidence, unfortunately it won't end mercifully. Lucky for Mojave Flanagan still has a couple years left.
Arbor View 45 Desert Oasis 18
Arbor View could score 60 and shut them out, but will pull the starters early to avoid injury.
Palo Verde 35 Legacy 28
For Palo, playoffs start next week against Gorman. For Legacy this is it, hope the Panthers don't get caught looking ahead like they did last year.
Centennial 40 Durango 21
It's a shame McQuaig and Sanders-Williams didn't have a better supporting cast.
Bishop Gorman 60 Shadow Ridge 9
Senior month continues at Fertitta Field.
BONUS! With your purchase of week 11 picks, you receive absolutely free Northern Playoffs Picks! Who cares, right?!
McQueen (4-5) 21 Galena (7-2) 18
North Game of the Week
This game will depend on which McQueen team shows up. Don't let the records fool you this is a toss up. McQueen is better than their record indicates and Galena is the opposite.
Reno (7-3) 23 Damonte Ranch (4-5) 19
Reno won by 20 when they played in week 4 but with the absolutely unpredictable results the north has had this season, no result would surprise me.
Spanish Springs (7-3) 42 Bishop Manogue 18
First time they met it was a blowout. This game shouldn't even be close but you never know this year.
Reed (7-3) 52 Douglas (4-5) 20
Douglas has won once in last six weeks. Reed has lost* once in the same span. Reed shows why they're the favorites.
*last week 14-2, season 138-27
Hey Tuasdad,
What? No Northern Division IA picks?
Fallon has to go BACK to Winnemucca to face Lowry for the second week in a row, after losing to them last week, 21-7.
Fernley, which ended Truckee's streak at 41 games, gets to go back to Truckee, after losing THREE in a row since knocking of the Wolverines 7-0...
Meanwhile, Truckee has rebounded from that loss and won their three games since then, including knocking off an Undefeated Fallon team...
Keith, I'll leave that to the pros. I don't know northern IA well enough to call games. I've kept a really close eye on Div I all year, plus I've got a good source for northern DI teams up there.
I'm looking forward to Truckee winning when it matters and exacting revenge on Fernley though
And last time for correcting myself, last week 13-3 season 137-28 i'm tied with Keefer.
Last Week: 15-1 Season: 142-23 (can anyone catch me???)
Cheyenne 34 Boulder City 20
Moapa Valley 48 Mojave 14
Canyon Springs 38 Las Vegas 21
Green Valley 35 Silverado 14
Valley 34 Rancho 16
Liberty 55 Foothill 19
Basic 35 Coronado 24
Del Sol 34 Eldorado 12
Arbor View 49 Desert Oasis 13
Palo Verde 35 Legacy 14
Centennial 42 Durango 14
Bishop Gorman 60 Shadow Ridge 9
If Cheyenne can beat Boulder by 4+ touchdowns then they MIGHT have a chance to hang with Truckee next week. If Cheyenne doesn't blow Boulder out, then they have NO chance against Truckee.
Mojave has been hot the last 4 or 5 weeks and is playing their best football of the season, but their defense will be no match for Moapa and their high scoring offense (Moapa averages 50.5 pts per game!)
Basic and Coronado should be a great game to watch, I just think Basic's 2 studs (Johnson and Boyd) will be impossible for Coronado to contain.
I think the only real question marks this week is Basic/Coronado and whether Palo gets caught looking ahead to Gorman and past Legacy and get upset.
I really believe that Legacy is the better team in the match up with PV. For the first time I can say Palo is limited on their offensive and defensive line which has always been their strength. This plays to Legacys advantage who are very good up front. Now that Legacy got their d up to snuff, they are tough. Plus they got some key players back that have been missing. We will see who wins, but I will take Legacy. I like all the other picks however. Tuasdad are you going to the Palo game?
I believed in Legacy all year as a legit playoff team and a good addition to the conference. Here is a shocker, the Northwest might only have one team in the second round. Quite a switch from years past. I love the Palo vs Gorman games and with all the extra stadium effects at Gaels Stadium to drown out the Panther winers will be nice. But I think if the Longhorns can keep their gap discipline for 48 minutes, Legacy will out athlete Palo.
Here we go
DIV 1 A Playoffs
Cheyenne over Boulder
Cheyenne has 2 big strong guys inside, dont know if Boulder can move them. Boulder is a good team but Cheyenne has Myloe and the win
Mojave over Moapa (Homer Pick)
I Beleive! Mo! Town! Moapa is as good as advertised, but I'm going with my boys.
Div 1 Sunset Playoffs
Gorman over Shadow Ridge
Shadow, pull out every trick you got, throw the bomb every third play, do the unexpected and crazy, this is your only chance
Centennial over Durango
Centennial D is too strong for Durango,Durango has to get the ball in space to its players to have a chance
Arbor over Desert Oasis
Arbor will put power on display and run loose for big victory
Palo over Legacy
I'm rooting on Legacy, hope they win , but cant count out Palo just yet, they are still Palo
Sunrise
Basic over Coronado
Dont know if Coronado can score enough to keep up, If they win the game it wouldnt be an upset , they have played well all season
Del Sol over ElDorado
Del Sol should win , ElDorado, pull out the play book, last game, lets see that reverse or half back pass, dont hold nothing back for last game of season
Liberty over Foothill
Foothill has improved over the season but not enough for the upset
Green Valley over Silverado
Who knew a team from the South East would win the North East
Canyon over Las Vegas
Canyon needs to get on track before the playoffs with a win to give them some mojo after tough loss
Valley over Rancho
Tough year for both programs but should make for an entertaining game. Pull out all the stops and go for it.
Teams not making the playoffs, go for it , its your last game of the season, dont be conservative, there is no tomorrow till next year, what do you have to lose. Same for the under dogs in the playoffs
Sorry Earl but your Homer pick is a big fat loser! Moapa is going to smoke Mojave. If Mojave scores 20 points I'll be impressed. With Mojave being so young they will be good for awhile but this year is Moapa's year to win the State Title.
Now, what I would love to see is Moapa Valley vs. Arbor View or Liberty or Centennial. That would be a great Football Program facing some of the toughest teams in Las Vegas. (The University of Bishop Gorman is disqualified from this debate.)
