The Bishop Gorman High football team won its fourth straight Nevada state championship last Saturday. The more important victory, however, won’t be determined for a few years. That’s what Gaels’ coach Tony Sanchez told Sports Illustrated last week when he was selected as their high school coach of the week.Comments are moderated by Las Vegas Sun editors. Gorman isn't even a local school. It's private and most of the players come here to go to USC, Texas and Alabama..
This isn't a home team, its entertainment.

Props to Gorman for their season. maybe they can move their school to Wyoming/Idaho to get a tax break or something.....
Probably considered a Gorman Hater by the overzealous parents, but have never questioned the character of the kids or coach. Props on the awards, Anu and Coach Sanchez.
By the way Notch, reveal your true identity so we peasants can bow to your superiority as a human being and lower our eyes when you approach.
Tmstffrd...ah yes a school that was established in this town (1954) before 99% of the people currently living here arrived. Totally not local.

Very cool. But don't get too carried away with claiming Gorman's coaches or team are superior to UNLV. The difference in the two levels is vast. Any Division I college football team would destroy Gorman.
I doubt Coach Sanchez would do any better than Hauck if Sanchez had to recruit and compete against teams with better support and facilities than he has.
Congrats to both on award. A special congrats to Solomon, he is a great young man, always has been and always will be. I am so proud of him, Arizona is getting someone special.
Nothing against the kids at Gorman, but none of their coaches should receive any honors locally due to the advantage they have to get any kid not only in the city, but the country to come to their school with none of the red tape that occurs when public school kids transfer from school to school & have to sit out. Also, let's not forget the multi-million dollar athletic/training facility they have that NO public school has on thier campus. It's time for Gorman to get on a nationalh level and stop competing for NIAA state titles. I know all of the Gorman supporters will call it whining, but it is what it is; get them out or eliminate the current ublic school transfer policy, then schools can load up the way Gorman has.
Tmstffrd you have to realize that four years isn't that long of a time. 4 years ago, they were murdered by Palo Verde. True, Gorman will not be a normal team again for a very long time, but in every city it started out with one private school.
It's just how the world works. When you reach state, you have won it all. Playing Gorman is just the bonus mission. They don't count. Having played four years in this town I know this.
