Case Keefer attempt to pick
the winning team from prep contests
across the Las Vegas area.

Keefer's Picks
Last Week:
13-4

Season:
130-34 (.792)

No Lewis. No Spight. This should be a leisurely walk in the park for Gorman.
Bishop Gorman 60, Cheyenne 0

Only five more chances to see one of the best teams in Southern Nevada history.
Bishop Gorman 63, Cheyenne 6

Palo Verde is the lone undefeated team in Las Vegas.
Palo Verde 49, Durango 7

Palo Verde doesn’t lose first round playoff games. It’s a fact.
Palo Verde 36, Durango 0

History repeats itself — Centennial beats D.O. in the playoffs.
Centennial 15, Desert Oasis 13

Leaning ever-so-slightly to a Centennial team that’s more well rounded.
Centennial 21, Desert Oasis 17

Arbor View wins a playoff game for the second straight year.
Arbor View 51, Bonanza 12

Bengals have surprised folks all year. They do it again by keeping it close here most of the way.
Arbor View 42, Bonanza 24

Valley won’t provide much of a challenge for Liberty.
Liberty 50, Valley 20

Good opportunity for the Liberty defense to get back on track after allowing 41 points last week.
Liberty 45, Valley 8

This is my upset special of the week. My man-crush on Desert Pines continues.
Desert Pines 31, Foothill 29

What game are you looking at? Absolutely, positively no chance for an upset in this one.
Foothill 38, Desert Pines 13

If Canyon Springs can contain Las Vegas’ Farrell Victor, what will they do against Basic?
Canyon Springs 28, Basic 19

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Basic was playing Liberty for the Sunrise championship in a few weeks.
Basic 27, Canyon Springs 22

Losing last week is the wake up call Las Vegas needed.
Las Vegas 43, Green Valley 26

Green Valley is headed in the wrong direction. Gators have gotten worse instead of better as season went along.
Las Vegas 34, Green Valley 28

Moapa Valley is the class of the 3A.
Moapa Valley 23, Virgin Valley 12

The Pirates defense baffled the Bulldogs the first time around. That’s not going to change.
Moapa Valley 36, Virgin Valley 8

  1. that's a solid point. None of the teams non-league games are listed. That's pretty cheesy, seems like the easiest way to break a tie. I would say it's only fair for Palo to play at home their undefeated...without an asterisk.

But here it is, Gorman will host:

Note: If teams are equally seeded, the following procedure will be used to determine the host/home team in region playoff games:

Northern Region -- In odd years, the High Desert League will host.
In even years, the Sierra League will host.

Sunrise Region -- In odd years, the Southeast League will host.
In even years, the Northeast League will host.

Sunset Region -- In odd years, the Southwest League will host.
In even years, the Northwest League will host

  2. excuse me..the link for the north 4a was for last years, they have 1 regular season game left but of the eight teams that make the north playoffs 2 of them are guaranteed to have either a 4-5 or 5-4 league record and the bottom two will either have a 3-6 or 2-7 league record. That's just garbage.

Mathematically Galena HS who is 1-8 can still make playoffs...between Galena, North Valleys and Damonte Ranch a combined 5-19 in league play and 5-21 overall at least one will make the northern playoffs, possibly 2.

  3. teamsg1: the non-league games do count into tie breakers. thats why palo hosted gorman last year, the one non-league loss to de la salle. so palo will host the game again if thats who it is playing.

  4. Case,
DPHS has the better talent. Roll the tape. Hayes and wilks are far better backs than Kapeli, who ran for 300 on Foothill. DPHS was pounding Liberty 21-7 before bad coaching decisions ruined their momentum. DPHS has many talented players, aside from Poutasi and Hayes. Do your homework. Your assessment is ignorant. This is not Kansas.

  5. come on now jagpride. While Hayes and Wilkes are good running backs, they are definitely not better Niko Kapeli! Do your homework and maybe watch the game film! It was actually 21-14 at the half! Physically, DP was gettin smacked in the mouth by Liberty. Patriots made too many mistakes on the field but made adjustments and kept smackin the jags in the mouth. End result? Jags couldnt score anything in the 2nd half! You gotta play all 4 quarters...u dont play half a game otherwise 21-14 would have been enough! But I do agree, there is more talent at DP that isnt recognized enough along with some overrated, over-recognized talent! Good luck at Foothill becuz DP will need it!

  6. That DP/Foothill game can either be a good hard game or a blow out by Foothill. We shall see that's why i love the playoffs.

If anyone cares to know how the Basic vs Canyon Spring game is going i've decided i'll be going there and will keep a score update through the maxpreps.com quick score thing.. here's a link you can follow on friday i'll update with every score.

  8. Boy was I wrong. I expected more out of DPHS in this match up. Maybe next year.
