Former Bishop Gorman High and Oklahoma football star DeMarco Murray is in contention to be on the cover of the newest EA Sports NCAA Football video game.

The athlete who receives the most online votes among Murray, Alabama’s Mark Ingram, Washington’s Jake Locker and Auburn’s Nick Fairley will receive the honor. Voting runs through Monday. Murray would appear in his white Oklahoma jersey on the cover.

Murray wrapped up his college career this fall at Oklahoma and is preparing for the NFL Draft. He is one of the top running backs in the draft and expected to be picked in the initial two rounds.

After redshirting in 2006, Murray rushed for 201 yards and five touchdowns against North Texas in his first college game to start a terrific college career.

At Gorman, Murray was the Sunset Region Player of the Year as a senior, rushing for 1,947 yards and 27 touchdowns and catching 22 passes for 624 yards and seven touchdowns. He went on to be Oklahoma’s all-time leader in points scored (390), touchdowns (65) and all-purpose yards (6,718).

He’s received several votes thanks to marketing efforts by the UFC. Like Murray, UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta is a Gorman graduate. The UFC has posted several videos on its website promoting Murray and UFC President Dana White also tweeted asking followers to vote for Murray.
