Las Vegas Sun reporters Ray Brewer and
Steve Silver attempt to pick
the winning team from prep contests

Silver's Picks
Last Week:

Gorman will find travel, cold weather and a hostile environment too much to overcome in a season-ending defeat. You read it here first.
Reed 23, Gorman 21
Benedict Brewer, are you serious? Gorman is a Division I factory that can't and won't be stopped.
Gorman 35, Reed 24
Del Sol has Basic's number — and a running attack the Wolves won't be able to stop.
Del Sol 36, Basic 22
I really enjoy watching both of these teams. It's a shame someone's season has to end this weekend. Basic is having a dream season and I'm not ready to stop dreaming just yet.
Basic 27, Del Sol 21

Do you really think we will let Del Sol knock us outta the playoffs twice in two years? Del Sol should be worried, because if they come out thinkin they are all high and mighty like Foothill did, we will pop them in the mouth. THEY WILL GET HIT!
I'm excited to see how Reed will do against Gorman.
VegasVegas, Gorman is actually flying. Not bad for a high school team
http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/high-sc...
They're flying because of the increase in detention fees they profited from by their students (LOL) also by the gate receipts received by the 2 games they played against public schools and the turnout by the fans of these public schools. Your welcome Gorman
Correction, 3 public schools. WOW, extra peanuts on the flight.
Del Sol is not worried at all about playing Basic. They welcome the challenge . It just gives them another tune up game before state. They are not cocky or high and mighty just extremely confident and ready. They will return your pop in the mouth and THEY WILL HIT BACK! So whatever Basic can afford, then bring it! Talk is cheap and intimidation tactics do not work against Del Sol. Just ask Liberty. Enough said.
Gorman doesn't keep the gate receipts from its playoff games. No schools do. That all goes to the NIAA.
Yo VegasVegas, just as Brewer hasn't seen Reed, neither have you. So let's crunch some numbers. The average maxpreps ranking of Gorman's opponent's is 6420, the average for Reed's is 4657. The combined won-loss record of Gorman opponents is 69-68, only a +1 in the win column. The combined record for Reed opponents is 77-59 a +18. So on paper it looks as though Reed as played a much tougher schedule but we all know that "on paper" is just that. What I'm sure of is that Reed will play a full 4 quarters of football, win or lose. Don't fool yourself for a minute with "the Reed players also will be impacted by the same weather conditions..." The Northern Zone Championship game was played last week in barely 30 degrees with a stiff 20mph wind blowing straight down the field throughout the game. Your right about the forecast but 47 is the HIGH for the day and it won't be even close to that in the second half when the sun is getting low. Bring a jacket.
Del Sol should be worried. If they aren't, then they will be sitting at home on December 5th watchin Basic play Gorman or Reed for state.
pig22fan1, why is it that Del Sol is "extremely confident and ready" yet Liberty was trying "cheap intimidation tactics"? I saw both teams pumpin each other up yet you belittle the intensity our Patriots brought out to the field. That's what teams do for each other especially at big games you idiot! Sounds like you're feelin pretty high and mighty right now. If Del Sol isn't worried...they better be! They weren't worried the first time they played Liberty and got the shock of their season. The absence of worry is overconfidence! In football, worry motivates preparation. You underestimate Basic and you'll see the Wolf eat the Dragon!
Gorman won! 62-21 against Reno Reed Raiders!
GO GAELS
The Del Sol Dragons gotta whole lotta heart, can't wait to go to the SilverBowl on saturday and watch them play! Go Defense! Luv U #52
Ray, Coach Sanchez wants to know what day you are going to stop by at practice this week...the team needs a new tackling dummy! Let's all give Ray that air-ball shot cheer...RAAAAAAaaaaaay...RAAAAAAaaaaaay...
RAAAAAAaaaaaay!
vegas vegas - I wasn't there but watching the first half and second half(online), the difference was the second string was in. Everyone got to play. The score was out of this world. They did represent.
Congrats to Del Sol for their win over us Saturday. U shut us down in the second half, and showed a lot of heart by coming out of the locker room at half and beating us without ur starting back. Go get 'em Drangons.
To basic63: Thank you for being a good sport! Y'all played a great game.
