Cimarron-Memorial graduate and former College of Southern Nevada standout Mike Dunn pitched a scoreless inning today for the New York Yankees during their 6-1 spring training victory against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The left-hander Dunn retired the side in order in the seventh inning, getting one Blue Jay to ground out and two others to fly out.

Dunn, who was added to the Yankees’ 40-man roster on Nov. 20, was drafted by the organization in the 33rd round of the 2004 draft.

He was drafted as an outfielder but converted to pitching in 2006. He should open the season with New York’s Double-A affiliate in Trenton, N.J.

Alex Rodriguez, playing in his first game since he admitted using performing-enhancing drugs, hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to spark the win.
