Tomorrow
He would be all
That a mortal could be...
Tomorrow
No one would be kinder
Or fairer than she...
Tomorrow
Each day he would stack up
The letters he would write...
Tomorrow
She would think of the customers
She would fill with delight...
Tomorrow
But the fact is they died
And faded from view
And all that was left
When living was through
Was the mountain of things
They intended to do...
Tomorrow

Adapted by Scott McKain
I had the opportunity to see Scott McKain speak two weeks ago at the Society for Marketing Professional Service’s “Build Business” Conference in Chicago. McKain spoke about how to distinguish your company from others. He stressed that now is the time to start this process.
Although his entire talk was fascinating (I will write further after I finish his book, “Collapse of Distinction”), I was struck by his closing. McKain recited the above poem.
I looked around at 800 of my colleagues, all of whom had the same expression on their faces. We were all running the highlight reels of our lives, and remembering all of our good intentions. I vowed then and there to not leave a list of good intentions behind when my time is done.
What have you put off for tomorrow that you should be doing today?
Carpe diem ...
