In its toughest test of the season, Findlay College Prep eked by Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep, 62-58, on Saturday in the final of the Montverde Academy Invitational in Florida.
D.J. Richardson, Findlay's senior guard who will play at Illinois next fall, was named MVP of the tourney.
Texas-bound Avery Bradley tallied 21 points for the Pilots (24-0), Richardson scored 18 and senior guard Victor Rudd added 16.
Bradley and Rudd were included, with Richardson, on the all-tournament team.
Orlando Christian Prep, which defeated tourney host Montverde in a semifinal, had a 26-4 edge over the Pilots in free-throw attempts Saturday.
Findlay, No. 2 in the USA Today national Super 25 poll, next plays Foothill on Feb. 11 at the Henderson International School, with which the Pilots are affiliated.
Findlay plays at Bishop Gorman on Feb. 12.
