Findlay runs record to 29-0 in Dallas

Findlay College Prep improved to 29-0 on Friday night with a 74-51 victory over God's Academy in Dallas.

Senior guard Avery Bradley, who finished the game wearing a wrap around his head and needing stitches in his lip, and junior guard Cory Joseph were named co-MVPs.

The Texas-bound Bradley scored 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting in 19 minutes. Joseph had 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists.

Findlay had been schedule to play Duncanville (Texas), but Duncanville was forced to play a tie-breaker game in its league and God's Academy (21-8) served as a replacement squad.

D.J. Richardson, the guard who will attend Illinois next fall, tallied 13 points, 6 boards and 4 assists against the Ambassadors. Victor Rudd, the 6-foot-7 forward who has UNLV among the top schools on his recruiting list, tallied 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Center Carlos Lopez, who will be a Rebel next fall, had 7 boards and reserve guard Issiah Grayson scored 8 points.

Tristan Thompson, Joseph’s buddy since the fourth grade in Toronto and a standout 6-9 forward who recently left Newark (N.J.) St. Benedict’s, made his debut as a Pilot in four minutes of action. He made an oral commitment to Texas last fall and will be a senior at Findlay next season.

Duncanville, annually one of the top basketball teams in the area, flew Findlay in for the game, which was played at Moody Coliseum on SMU’s campus, and arranged for accommodations for the Pilots.

Findlay plays its final regular-season game at the Henderson International School, with which the Pilots are affiliated, at 7 p.m. next Friday against Impact Prep Basketball Academy.

Pilots coach Mike Peck is 61-1 coaching Findlay. It went 30-0 a year ago, won two games at the National Prep Championship in the Bronx, N.Y., and then lost the title game to Hargrave Military Academy.

Peck has accepted a spot in the eight-team National High School Invitational, where Findlay can expect a top seed, on April 3-5 in North Bethesda, Md.
