Sheriff goes Face to Face

On tonight's program Metro Sheriff Doug Gillespie defends the SWAT operation that resulted in the shooting of three officers. Gillespie was on his way to a ceremony to honor the officers, who thankfully suffered relatively minor injuries.

Gillespie offers reasonable explanations for the officers' actions but some viewers are likely to be left wondering if Metro could have taken another course to reduce the risk to the lives of the police as well as the children inside the home.

Metro has invited me to ride along on a SWAT operation soon so that I may second-guess from a more informed position in the future.

Gillespie also addresses the revelation from a Face to Face exclusive that a private investigator working for Jeff Guinn, the son of then-Governor Kenny Guinn, obtained confidential information from a Metro detective on more than 200 Las Vegans back in 2006.

What's happened since we broke the story? Pretty much nothing. The cop, Paul Osuch, resigned a few weeks early. He declined to come in for questioning as did the private investigator, Jim Thomas, also a former cop. Gillespie admits Metro has not notified the affected citizens that their confidential information has been breached but admits it's in order.
