Stripper 101?

UNLV's acting president says he wants the permanent gig. Dr. Neal Smatresk moved up the ladder from provost to president following the unceremonious dumping of former president David Ashley.

Now Smatresk, who has a two-year interim contract, says Las Vegas needs a university that lives up to the city's dynamic nature and is not afraid to embrace its identity. No, he's not advocating lining the campus walkway with neon stripper poles, just a healthy appreciation of our abilities as well as limitations. Harvard of the West, he agrees with Jon, we are not.

On today's program Smatresk leaked word of two upcoming big deals at UNLV - one, a multi-million-dollar foundation to support non-profits and the other, an alliance with a national think tank to be announced in September.
