On Tuesday, PokerNews became aware of a posting about an upcoming public auction sale being held by the Internal Revenue Service of the United States. The posting, which can be found here, appears to have items up for sale once belonging to Jerry Yang, winner of the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event, including the Corum bracelet and Corum watch Yang was awarded that year for besting a field of 6,358 entries in the Main Event to earn a whopping $8.25 million in prize money.

They sure do know how to represent poker. Eeesh. It's amazing how trouble and embarrassment has found these guys.
you mean he won 8 million and now theyre auctioning off his bracelet and watch to pay a tax bil.what must they be worth,a few thousand.
A lot of these guys are simply big time degenerate gamblers. It doesn't matter how much they win, they love the action. It coud be betting on cockroach races or the weather, these guys just love to gamble.
TomD has it right. It's about the action.
Some, not all, can't manage their gambling or their lives.
I agree, TomD hit the nail on the head.
Unfortunately, we build these people up as celebrities, when in actuality they are as Tom points out nothing but hopeless degenerate gamblers.
Jerry is a rock bottom zero. He is not worthy of fetching food for 1/2 players at The Orleans. Next time you hear a zero offering to donate a fortune, know that they will soon be filthy and homeless.
This story and the other degenerate chasing prostitutes makes you want to feel sorry for these guys---but then most of the readers haven't had first hand contact with these low life scum poker players who treat everyone around them like garbage and take every shot in the book to scam an extra chip. These stiffs deserve everything they get and then some. Flea bag degenerate poker scum!
Even for top tier players (which many of the recent WSOP winners are not) it is a grind to make a living. You're only as good as your next tournament. Then when you have knuckleheads like Yang come into this fortune they don't know how to manage it. Next thing you know they are buying into large games and getting their @sses kicked. The reality is that in many cases luck has played a huge roll in their main event wins and they simply aren't as good as they think they are. Then throw in the degenerate aspect of their personality and before long..whoosh, they've burned thru millions. Maybe it's me but poker rooms have always had a scummy feel to me as if the majority in there are degenerate gamblers. Same goes for sports books. The casino floor seems to have more of the "touristy" feel while poker and sports book have a degenerate locals feel.
All gamblers are losers---period----the reason poker fleas are the worst is they believe they have discovered some secret---which is 99% just random luck. I've know more guys playing poker "for a living" go slowly broke and take 20 years to do it---deluding themselves that they are smarter than the other 7 morons sitting at the table for 20 hours at a time. What a joke---all these people would make more money working at McDonald's 20 hours a day instead.
