Any one think the NFL cares? They're probably jumping for joy since they hate betting on NFL games so much, even though betting on the games is a significant factor in the NFL's popularity. I say, if they can live with breweries advertising their poison during their games, they could live with the more benign sports books advertising, too. Alcohol is much more dangerous to Americans than gambling could ever be. Hypocrites!
That's what happens when you hand pick winners and losers, everyone gets a raw deal. The bank bailouts were a more expensive example, but the same thing.
Most hard core sports bettors likely have a degenerate habit. Bad officiating isn't going to stop them. The guy visiting Vegas who makes a few bets isn't going to be swayed either. The people living here that bet continuously on games are not going to stop their habit. Maybe they'll switch to baseball but they aren't going to stop betting.
