Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn, who failed to persuade Foxborough to accept a lavish $1 billion gambling resort, is investigating land on the Mystic River for a possible casino bid in Everett, which would create a clash among gambling titans for the state’s most lucrative casino license. Wynn, the creator of iconic hotels on the Vegas Strip, such as Bellagio, the Mirage, and Treasure Island, is expected in Everett this week to personally view the site, Mayor Carlo DeMaria’s office confirmed to the Globe this afternoon. The mayor’s office would not say when Wynn is to arrive, but another source said the casino billionaire is due in Everett on Wednesday.

It's good to see Mr. Wynn is back to focusing on gaming. However, there is much doubt Wynn is doing this intro for a serious bid to expand his operations outside of Nevada and Macau.
For one, Wynn's quality in service and offerings would decline with an expansion outside Nevada. Steve Wynn does not cater to the middle market. Wynn tried this in the form of the Treasure Island in Las Vegas. Wynn is interested in the higher end customer and deep target marketing. Plus, Wynn does not have the staff to expand and maintain the quality Wynn is know for.
At best, people are excited. The reality, Wynn is not really interested in building a casino that caters to middle America.
So he's OK with Obama now? Wasn't it just last month he said no expansion under Obama. These guys need to get out of politics and stick to gaming.
Politico,
Also, it will cost Wynn more than the others to expand in the domestic gaming market because of his public involvement in the 2012 Presidential election, it's what said Wynn publicly. What Wynn said, and who he backed is how the politicians will evaluate any type of Wynn participation in states having a democrat party influence. The concern would be, Wynn will back candidates in local election. We know it happens all the time with Casino operators playing both sides. However, Wynn made it personal with President Obama as did former Mayor Oscar Goodman. Politically, Wynn's cost will be higher for any expansion in the USA.
I thought Steve said he wasn't going to be pursuing any new projects under this "stifling" economic environment under Obama? The election isn't a month old and he's already looking into Philly and Massachusetts?
As I stated many times, your true entrepreneurs aren't going to sit around doing nothing. It doesn't matter who is president or what party is in control. Steve oozes business, money, projects. He's not going to sit around watching Oprah. It was all just lip service trying to scare the population into thinking guys like himself are going to crawl into a shell and not pursue any projects. One giant lie.
