Rapper DMX will drop his mic for a pair of MMA gloves on Dec. 12 when he makes his debut against Eric Martinez at the Thunder Promotions event in Birmingham, Ala. The card also features Butterbean taking on Tank Abbott.
MMA is not regulated in Alabama, which is why circus-style fights like Butterbean, who at 350 pounds will likely outweigh the former UFC veteran by 100 pounds, can happen. Alabama has hosted past MMA events such as amputee Kyle Maynard's fight and a Tim Sylvia-Ray Mercer bout that New Jersey wouldn't sanction. DMX — who recently has been busted for cocaine and marijuana possession, theft, animal cruelty, criminal weapon possession, and filing false information at the Mayo Clinic — is currently working on two albums.
