Former UNLV athletic director Mike Hamrick, who left his post in Vegas this summer for the same position at Marshall University — his alma mater — is truly getting reacquainted with his old college campus. Hamrick is enjoying temporary housing in an on-campus residence hall. “At first, the students looked at me kind of funny like ‘who is this old guy?’” Hamrick said in the piece. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an athletic director living in a freshman residence hall.” Later in the story, he said he felt like Rodney Dangerfield's character in the 1980s comedy 'Back to School', in which Dangerfield joins his son on campus. "To be honest, it’s made me feel young," he added. "I graduated in 1980 and living in the dorm makes me feel like I never left.”

what a prick, I hate this guy. Way to leave the football program in such capable hands. Im so glad he is gone, I just hope he screws up even worse at Marshall.
He will make a mess there too and then he will hire a lousy coach just like he did with UNLV and after he finish his mess, he will make a beeline for another school.
Mike Hamrick did a good job in his time at UNLV, not great but good. Virtually every program is in as good or better shape then when he came. Football was in trouble long before he got here, but both men's & women's basketball, soccer and volleyball all have better coaches and more solid programs.
The budget defitict he inherited was eliminated, the NCAA problems caused by the Bayno and Tarkanian regimes have been cleared up, and we now have the best basketball coach in the country.
I wish Mike Hamrick would have brought a winning coach and tradition to UNLV football, but he is certainly not the first athletic director to fall short in that job. I wish Mike and his family well back home in West virginia.
