Adelson slams corporate spending backlash; searches for most boring city

(via Reuters) · March 12, 2009 · 5:42 PM

Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson launched a quest for America's most boring city on Tuesday in a comeback to President Barack Obama's criticism of bankers who hold meetings in the famous gaming capital.

"The good news is that Las Vegas has become a synonym for a good time for adults," Adelson, majority owner of casino operator Las Vegas Sands, said in a Reuters report.

"But I'm going to conduct a survey and I'm going to provide a prize for people who will submit the name of the worst city in the country to go to, where people can enjoy it the least. Because that's the alternative. The alternative is you go to a place where you enjoy, or you go to a place you don't enjoy."

  1. This clown is your mayor?

  2. No, Barr, Oscar Goodman is the mayor. Sheldon Adelson is a blowhard that owns a handful of casinos mired in debt he can't possibly afford (but for some reason believes he can).

  3. Little Rock, Arkansas has my vote for the sh!tty city award

  4. I nominate Washington D.C... if not the most boring city.. it could be designated as the city most hospitable for past, present and future parolees... It certainly beats Las Vegas as a place where people meet and squander trillions of dollars without any justifible criteria or responsibility.

  5. I nominate Dorchester, Massachusetts as the most boring and dangerous city in the U.S. It has produced some of the most despicable characters in history.

    Where are you from, Sheldon?

  6. Sounds like a fat cat glutton crying about fiscal responsibility...Of course a casino owner has direct conflict with that concept!
