Rebels football climbs to No. 84, says New York Times

(via New York Times) · June 22, 2009 · 4:16 PM

The New York Times has been running a "Quad Countdown" series, ranking college football teams ahead of the 2009 season. Apparently the paper believes UNLV will be better than it was last season. The Rebels have gone from triple digits in the ratings to No. 84. Click on the headline for the story.

  1. overrated

  2. Wow, I loved that article. Starting to get the itch for football so that hit the spot. Anxious to see if the Rebels can improve, they have the weapons.

According to last years preview, UNLV was ranked 111th, but I guess they were overrated then too right?

  3. Hey, I'll take it. I think we will be much approved from last year. We are returning a lot of players on Defense and we did get some help on the outside. I think we will end up 6-6 and maybe 7-5 if we can steal one of the Utah or BYU games at home. Most likely BYU who is without Collie as the go to receiver.

I wish people would support this team. My dad has been taking me to games since 1983. I have gone to at least 3-4 games every year since. I have been there through the highs and lows, but I have been there. I know I am not the only one, but I just wish we could get at least 18,000 to each game. No matter if we win or not. This is our team. C'mon ya'll.

  4. UNLV should be D2.... That's not a knock on the program... just fact!

  5. That's quite the name you've got there dogf'er.

I do like your positivity about the upcoming season though. Wish I could say the same for seemingly undying UNLV football haters that reside right here in Las Vegas.

"UNLV should be D2" is a fact? What foundation did you use to qualify that as a fact? Your statement is an opinion. Which you are entitled to, so that's OK. However, next time you should not state an misstate an opinion as fact, it makes you, and Las Vegas, look foolish.

I stand by my opinion that we will win 6, but 7 is not that far out of reach. If we beat Oregon State then we will win 8. I had chalked up the Oregon State game as a guaranteed loss.

  7. We are going BOWLIN' Vegas! See ya at the Silver Bowl!
