Former UNLV recruit Noel Johnson picks Clemson

(via Rivals.com) · June 20, 2009 · 7:24 PM

Noel Johnson, one of the top remaining unsigned prospects in the 2009 men's basketball recruiting class, chose Clemson on Friday following a visit to the South Carolina campus.

After de-committing from Southern Cal amidst the program's recent troubles, capped by the resignation of coach Tim Floyd, the 6-foot-7 swingman out of Atlanta had re-opened his recruitment.

Johnson visited UNLV two weeks ago, and following his visit had said he planned on visiting some other schools, including LSU and Xavier.

The Clemson visit, however, did the trick.

UNLV's main connection to Johnson was through his father, Lynbert, who goes back a ways with Rebels assistant Lew Hill.

UNLV still has one open scholarship for next season, but at this point it appears likely that it will be applied towards next year's recruiting class instead.
