UNLV assistant coach Steve Henson, who played for UNLV head coach Lon Kruger at Kansas State from 1987-90, was elected to the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.

He is part of a 14-member induction class that will be enshrined on Oct. 4 in Wichita.

The McPherson, Kan., native broke 21 school records at K-State, was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1990 and played in the NBA for six seasons.

He also worked as an assistant with Kruger at Illinois and with the Atlanta Hawks.

  1. Congratulations coach Henson. Enjoy your induction and good luck for the next Rebel season.

  2. I watched Henson play in college. Gritty player who made things tough for the opposition.

Coach Henson has also made significant contributions to our community. I often see him helping out with youth basketball in Henderson.

When I first saw the headline I was afraid he had accepted a position elsewhere. I'm glad to see he'll still be around.
