ACLU sues Nevada officials over state prison's medical care

(via Los Angeles Times) · March 7, 2008 · 9 AM

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a class-action lawsuit Thursday against Nevada officials, including Gov. Jim Gibbons, on allegations that they failed to amend a pattern of inadequate medical care at the maximum-security prison in Ely.

The suit filed by ACLU lawyers in federal court in Reno stated that the deprivations "are so extreme that they subject all the men confined there to constant significant risk of serious injury, medical harm [and] premature death."
