Feeling under the weather, John Ensign skipped Obama speech

WASHINGTON -- If you couldn’t find Republican Sen. John Ensign in the crowd for the president’s joint address to Congress this week, you’re not alone.

Ensign missed the live event under the dome, opting instead to watch from home because, his spokeswoman said, he was fighting a cold.

Observers noticed the chamber looked a little emptier than usual for a presidential address as several lawmakers decided to sit it out. But what the Republican side lacked in quantity if more than made up for in the voluble heckling.
