WASHINGTON -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid gets a shout out in TV ads beginning Sunday as the PR wars over President Barack Obama's economic recovery package continue in Nevada.
The liberal group Americans United for Change, which has been leading a campaign in support of Obama's bill, joined with the union AFSCME for the ad that starts Sunday in Las Vegas and Reno.
The script is a bit of a rallying effort as Reid presumably begins final negotiations on the bill next week. It reads, in part:
"Nearly 1 in 10 Nevadans are out of work. But our Senator, Harry Reid is working with President Obama to pass a plan that would create jobs by investing in energy, transportation and schools. Senator Reid is taking the lead to cut taxes for struggling middle class families."
Not a bad counter to the anti-Reid ads that were running last month in Reno from the Republican Senate campaign committee.
Americans United is the same group that targeted Republican Sen. John Ensign in radio ads last week -- pushing him to support Obama's bill, which seems unlikely.
Libs and unions love Reid.
Those groups do not make up a majority of Nevadans.
Nevada is near the bottom in getting taxpayer money returned to Nevada yet he is the 2nd most powerful person in DC by some accounts.
In this boondoggle of a "stimulus" bill again Nevada is ranked on the bottom.
I guess Reid is using that power to help libs and unions and not Nevadans.
The Libs and Unions support Reid, OK, what about normal people?
Nevada's low "federal return rate" on federal money is not due to ANYTHING Reid has done. It's nearly 100% due to Nevada being so anti-tax, for ANY REASON, that it never has enough money (tax revenues) to put up the LOCAL MATCH for federal funded programs. This has been stated over and over again on these comment pages and yet those who are either too dumb to know any better or who refuse to believe reality, continue to support the lie that ALL EVIL IS CAUSED BY HARRY REID. Only in teeny tiny little minds, maybe.
Prince Harry, why create more jobs until you can protect our state by the infestation of illegals who are taking good jobs away from American citizens. What, you want to create more jobs to give illegals another avenue to work? Now is the time to stand up for the citizens who voted you into office. Put the Nevadan and American citizen first.

I don't think the repubs can field anybody against Dirty Harry, but we can hope. I would vote for the boogy man if I thought it would dislodge useless Harry Reid.

No wonder Mr. Reid can not get the economic stimulus act pass in the senate because Mr. Reid has always been a partisan politician looking ONLY to his party and not to the people needs. Mr. Reid should be defeated in the coming election for the welfare of Nevadans.

We need to campaign against Reid's fearmongering insanity on Yucca Mountain that has this state completely hoodwinked.
Dirty Harry has done NOTHING to help the Nevada economy and now he's trying to kill a $100 Billion income stream from the Yucca Mountain Project; some thousands of jobs now and in the future; the only job in Nevada for highly educated, highly trained workers; and put enough homes on the market in Summerlin to quickly turn it into Slummerlin...
If the public was properly informed about the Yucca Mountain Project, I'm sure more and more people would be for it. Let's put it on a Ballot for a vote!
Reid should have worked with the Government to make Yucca an advanced center for Nuclear Power, Nuclear Waste, Nuclear Fuel Reprocessing, and even solar and wind farms.
But no, the monster ego of this truly little man is single handedly destroying Nevada while he lines his pockets from his shady dealings...
And then there's his infuriating recent commercial... Every word of it is a lie as he tries to gain your vote once again....
Just say "NO" to Harry in 2010 !!!!!
