WASHINGTON -- The Wall Street Journal takes a quick look today at Sen. Harry Reid’s role as majority leader in the Senate, where his skills could help make or break health care reform.
"Mr. Reid has enjoyed some successes, pushing through bills on economic stimulus, children's health and tobacco regulation, among others," the paper wrote. "But he will inevitably be judged on health care and climate change."
The National Republican Senatorial Committee used the story as an occasion to attack Reid in its morning e-mail to reporters.

Good article but it fails to point out how Harry's actions during the Bush years to stall and kill legislation has come back to bite him.
The White House has zero leadership, The House has zero leadership and the Senate has zero leadership.
Not bad for a party clearly in the majority. Here is the problem the Dems face; America is on to your "don't read the bill" but pass it anyway antics.
You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
I can't wait for 2010 when the Democrats cannibalize their party with "purges" and political assassinations.

Reid, Pelosi with Obama have already made up their minds regarding Obamacare, you're going to get it. Their constituents wishes don't matter.
Reid has already been judged by the residents of Nevada and he is out next year.
At 69 Reid should bow out rather than getting booted out.

Lisa I can't say that I agree with you totally. If and when any immigration reform bills come to vote in the Senate and Sen. Reid votes yea, seeing that he has signed on to The Dream Act 09, he should be doomed when reelection time comes around. There are too many American citizens suffering because the undocumented are working here in Nevada and over 100,000 citizens are not. Should a Senator expect to be re-elected if he continues to support people who are breaking Federal laws?
There will be HealthCare Reform when hair grows here. Never gonna happen. Big Insurance Companies run this show, believe it. Health Care reform is an Obamanation. He can't even explain it properly. No one can. No one has read the bill. Big Big mistake was made in November of '08 and we'll all regret it soon.
Stimulus passed, schip expansion passed, banks and car companies propped-up, cash for clunkers extended, etc. Name one failure?
Some form of health care reform will pass either with a public option or a co-op that will end up as a public option. Once it is in place it will be there forever like Social Security or Medicare.
And he will be reelected.
With all these "Socialist" ranters, it is a wonder anything gets done in Congress. Instead of letting these no talent yokels yell and scream and not give solutions, give them what they want. Let them have free hooter's t-shirt, that they can wear at their local under-paid employeed Wal-mart. where they buy clothes from our favorite countries like Pakistan, Viet Nam, & Iraq. How exactly does single payer health care qualify as a solution if it leads to health care rationing? Can you answer that... of course not.

No one-payer system, this isn't Canada. To paraphase 7-11, "Freedom of Choice". Better to pick a plan you want than be stuck with what you cannot get. If you want Plastic Surgery every Thursday, than that is your choice. But if I want something that I don't have to fork over my kidney so that I can get a check-up, then I'm all for it. I want something that I can buy in Nevada that I can get in New York. Freedom to move around the country that I don't have to worry if I can end up with a broken leg while I'm visiting folks in Nebraska. You know why people aren't getting $1 an hour raises like we use to 10 or 15 years ago, it all goes to increased insurance co-pay that your company pays so that you can get less coverage every year for twice the price. Tort reform was done in Nevada and people still pay alot to get less every year. I want to know that if I chip a tooth, that I can see a dentist that will not have to worry about if I can afford the co-pay.
How can we Nevadans trust Senator Reid when his contributions from Pharma and Insurance are revealed? If he fights for the public option plan he won't be earning his "Big" money. He'll follow the money, just as he has all along. Am I right?

I'm all for Sen Reid. With Reid as majority leader, we will get a high speed rail system, and he is working on getting our state green jobs, Thanks to him Yucca Mt is DOA. Further more, I am not worried about Tarkanian a 2 tier candidate or Lowden, the labor hating beauty queen, who lost her state senate seat after 1 term.

Harry Reid is gone next year. He's lost touch with his constituents and is crusading on his own personal agendas. Government run Health Care - What a disastrous mess he's getting us into that the people don't want. It will be a good thing for Nevada to get a fresh face with new ideas and focus to lead responsibly. We have lost that under Harry Reid. I know I'd willing to give Cash to get rid of this Clunker!

Brneyesuss, you may be right about Reid getting green jobs for Nevadans. Just one problem you forgot, he'll give them to illegals breaking federal laws or green card holders whose soul purpose is to prevent American citizens from getting work.
Just look at our casino's and construction jobs in Harrys' domain, he could care less if American Citizens aren't working. As long as he keeps these federal lawbreakers working he'll keep big business happy. That's his main concern.
He will be judged on health care and climate change. People are seeing greater truth from many places. Barack Obama is proving accusations against himself and senators are quiet.

When 98,000 are killed by medical treatments yearly, the number harmed by medical treatment are many more. Others are enslaved to medical treatments. Medical opinions keep changing, procedures are found unnecessary or harmful; and we are not promoting the use of scientifically proven therapies available at home including raw fresh foods, herbal cures, sunshine and fresh air, and prayer and faith, There is no money in those remedies so they are ignored.
To continue to promote our lifestyle of make jobs, create, transport, buy and sell, and export our plan to the world ignores the fact we have polluted our air, land, water and food to a point where we are a sick nation, both young and old. It is gross blindness to say we are fighting our world problems when we in fact refuse to stop what we know will destroy us in less than a generation. Even our wars are fought over us bringing our lifestyle to another nation.
The goal in life is not and never was to be employment. The employment lifestyle has caused our world problems and left us with stress and bondage where our most often prayer is "Thank God it is Friday." This is an oppressive system that will not change oppression of the masses by the few; but it will increase our health care needs. The way we feed our animals and produce our foods changes the natural ph factor of our blood making us susceptible to viruses and crippling of our bodies. We are going the wrong way,.
The goal and easy solution is a garden paradise lifestyle where trees, plants and pets provide fresh food around us. It pulls us into the sunshine and gives us light exercise to keep us healthy. It is an easy, quick, fair and inexpensive solution to world problems we created: pollution, energy crisis, war, immigration, reoccurring financial crises, serious health care needs for young and old, global warming-climate change fears, crime, waste management, nuclear wastes and weapons of many kinds threatening our peace and general social needs of old and young because no one is home to care for the family. We are going the wrong way. We are at a pivotal point. The present financial crisis makes this a wonderful time to turn to our new direction of true peace, tree freedom, and true prosperity.
