GOP pulls ads for Porter after rethinking strategy

WASHINGTON -- The House Republican re-election committee has pulled TV ads for Rep. Jon Porter in Nevada’s hotly contested 3rd congressional race, but is still holding television time for the final two weeks of the campaign, a source confirmed this afternoon.

Republicans in both the House and Senate are facing deep-pocketed Democrats this election cycle, and rethinking their spending strategy. We noted the shift in Senate race spending yesterday.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has run three ads attacking Porter in his race against Democratic state Sen. Dina Titus. One is out this week.

Porter’s campaign said the House committee has added and scaled back its support throughout the campaign.

Plus, Porter is also getting attention from Freedom’s Watch, the national group funded in part by Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, which has run ads attacking Titus.

The Sun’s Megan McCloskey fact-checks the ads for what’s fair and what’s not in her truth squad series. See for yourself here.

  1. To find out Jesse Jackson is in Europe declaring the decades of putting Israel first for the American government is coming to an end. For Louis Farrakhan to declare two days ago in Chicago that this is a new beginning for the Nation of Islam movement is scary. To find the Obama agenda of giving tax refunds to people that pay no income tax and calling it spreading the wealth is horrible. Find out the real agenda and don't fall for the glitz and script that he is following. How could anyone in Nevada approve this message?

  2. "neiman1" if you're that scared, really, based on delusions - then, get yourself into therapy! You need to learn to base your beliefs in fact - NOT fiction! It's O.K. there really are no monsters hiding under your bed - it's all in your head dude!
