President Bush headed to Vegas for two private affairs

WASHINGTON — President Bush is expected to be in Las Vegas on Thursday to deliver a morning speech on the Global War on Terror followed by a luncheon fundraiser for Nevada Republicans.

Bush is planning a swing through the Western states this week on the heels of tonight’s State of the Union address.

Both Las Vegas events are closed to the public.

Bear with me as the details become clear, but here’s a bit of what is planned.

Bush arrives Wednesday night from California. Thursday morning, he is scheduled to give an update on the Iraqi war at an affair in Queensirdge, the upscale master-planned community west of the Strip.

The luncheon fundraiser will be at a private residence in Las Vegas.

Nevada’s Republican lawmakers in Washington are not expecting to return home for the visit. Sen. John Ensign will stay in DC, as will Rep. Jon Porter. No word yet on Rep. Dean Heller.

After Nevada, Bush is headed to Colorado.
