Marital problems at the governor’s mansion

The Reno Gazette-Journal is reporting that Gov. Jim Gibbons and his family will meet this weekend to discuss the future of his marriage to Dawn.

Dianne Cornwall, a senior member of the staff, confirmed the meeting. I've just confirmed with a source close to Gibbons that this is indeed the case.

The source also expressed incredulity that someone from the staff would confirm this story, echoing the comments of Sun columnist Jon Ralston, who just informed his email newsletter subscribers.

Gibbons’ son, who is taking final exams at the Merchant Marine Academy this week, is set to arrive home Saturday. Clearly the family had planned to keep the story quiet until then.

In the past 24 hours, two bloggers — one here and another in Washington — have written of the rumors, which have been widespread recently.
