WASHINGTON — Some of you have asked why Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who favored the $14 billion auto bailout bill , ended up voting against it?
The answer is this: By changing his vote last week from aye to nay, the majority leader reserves the right, under Senate rules, to revisit the legislation. Reid has done this before, for example, on bills to do with the Iraq War.
So does that mean Congress isn’t really done for the year, and could return in coming days to revote on the bailout for the Big Three?
Procedurally possible. But politically doubtful. While Reid left the door open, and Congress is technically meeting now in pro forma sessions, it seems unlikely senators will be called back to Washington.

You still didn't say anything in this article. Strike two. Need some help. Okay.
Let me translate, Harry Reid has become uneffective in his "leadership" role and it is time for him to step down. Come on Lisa, get some hair on your chest and say it.
U.S. taxpayers don't need to bailout the Big 3 at all.
The solution is right before their noses and I have explained it in my blog here: http://texex-xpress.blogspot.com/2008/12...
If it's left up to Boss Reid, they will fail for sure.
LV SUN comes to Harry's rescue yet again...
Harry is corrupt as the day is long, in my humble opinion. I can't wait for Nevadan's to send him back to Searchlight.
Harry Reid is an economic hero for Nevada. He got us the solar tax incentives that are driving forward construction projects here.
Ensign and the Republicans are proving conclusively that their hate of labor unions is stronger than any sense of responsibility they have for the American economy.
Throwing a million Americans out of work because they're well-paid union members is a crime against working people, not anything to be proud of.
Herbert Hoover didn't have anything on this crowd.
He waited until the White House upped the ante to $17.4 billion. Where, exactly, is this extra money going? Lobbyists? Senator Dodd of CT.? Bonuses?
Allowing the car makers to go belly up will afford them to re-structure and safe some jobs. Obviously the UAW will have no part of saving their jobs....so be it!! well thats 14 billion we can save.
Cannot believe that there is even a question on a bailout. We do not have the slightest idea -- as citizens -- what the $700 billion has gone for, and today, the big three got their first checks. Sen Reid is the leader in the Senate!! For Pete's sake, what IS HE DOING?? This past year has really caused me to take a hard look at his being too hesitant to handle hard decisions. Think it is time for a change in 2010!! Do not think Harry is up to the challenges we face in the future.
