All she’s waiting for is the bunting.

State Sen. Dina Titus is expected to announce Thursday that she will enter the 3rd Congressional District race.

Titus has scheduled a 5:30 p.m. Thursday event with friends and family in Henderson. Those close to her say she has been working out final details of her candidacy, including who will run for her current state Senate seat.

Former prosecutor Robert Daskas had been Democrats' preferred candidate to challenge Rep. Jon Porter, but dropped out on Monday, citing "family considerations."

Daskas, a first-time candidate, had been playing it relatively safe.

Titus, a political firebrand, is unlikely to do so.

A political source said Titus' campaign is likely to be run by someone sent to Nevada by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which has targeted Porter this fall.
