Weighing in on Iowa’s strength

Just reading colleague Mike Mishak's interview with Sen. Harry Reid, and one line jumped out at me.

"We know Iowa and New Hampshire's position has been significantly weakened, not just because of Nevada and South Carolina, but because of other states moving up their contests as well."

There's more political activity in Iowa this year than at any time in the history of the caucus, according to Des Moines Register political columnist David Yepsen. New Hampshire is getting nearly as much. Reid also suggested Congress would take up the presidential selection calendar. That'd be a first.

This is the second time Reid has weighed in on the caucus and presidential primary process. Earlier in the week, he predicted 100,000 Democrats would show at the caucus, which is more than twice what the consensus predicted turnout is.
