Killing time before the debate

For the true junkies among us, a near-comprehensive rundown of debate coverage and other items political to tide you over until 5 when the debate starts on CNN.

Mitt in the 60s!

Mitt Romney, who was a Mormon missionary in France and encouraged not to read newspapers while there, came back in 1968 to a much different country. Romney is here for events Friday. An event Saturday as well.

The New York Times says Clinton can undo some of the damage done to her in the recent debate and with her own missteps of late. The Las Vegas Sun analysis is similar. Ergo: it's obviously wrong.

Ben Smith of Sun partner The Politico has a curtain-raiser, as he calls it, on Nevada. He has a good insight: immigration reform is a big deal for many Hispanic voters here, including many Culinary workers. Clinton has come out against driver's licenses for illegal immigrants. Obama notes it's a state issue but says figuring out who's here and making sure people who are driving are trained to drive and have a license is a good idea. (He scores points on this in the Democratic primary, and though it hurts him with Republicans in a general election, they're the type of Republicans who would never vote for him anyway.) What's also worth noting, though, is that Democrats have been trying to get Hispanics out one election cycle after the next, never with much success.

Smith, who blogs the Democratic race by the way, and his colleague blogging the race on the Republican side, Jonathan Martin, are just must reading if you're into politics and watching this race. Great cubicle time-killers.
