In one of the more inflammatory ads to mark an already ugly U.S. Senate race, Republican Sharron Angle accuses her Democratic rival Harry Reid of supporting tax breaks for illegal immigrants. We put it through the Truth Test and find the claim doesn't quite measure up.

These scapegoating and demonizing ads are the lowest of the low and insults everybody's intelligence.
The entire so-called republican cabal and their stooges constantly tell lie, even preposterous lies over and over and rep[eat the same message 24/7.
Where is their political platform? Where is their agenda? Where are their new ideas? Where are their solutions to our economic problems?
The answer, my friends, is zilch, nada, nyet, and a constant no and obstruction.

In what way is Sharon Angle distorting the facts? I have not read the so-called "Dream Act," but my understanding is that it would allow in-State tuition to college and university to children of ILLEGAL ALIENS. Now, if the children were born in the USA, they are already citizens and therefore eligible for all benefits to which any other citizen is entitled, including in-State tuition. Similarly, no employer is permitted to hire an ILLEGAL ALIEN. Presumably, this would include the military. Again, if the child is a legal citizen by virtue of having been born in the USA, there is no problem. However, in both cases, Dirty Harry wants to permit ILLEGAL ALIENS to have all the rights and priveleges of U.S. citizens, even if they were born in Mexico, Guatamala, or Afghanistan, and brought to the USA by their ILLEGAL ALIEN parents. I say the Dream Act is misguided and should be defeated! Go, Sharon Angle!
So it's OK to demonize Sharon Angle, but taboo to illustrate Harry's desperate plans.

If you want a good example of what Nevada would be like with Sharron Angle as a Senator think about all the news and activity coming out of John Ensign these days. Absolute and total silence , non existent, NOTHING except to come out and vote NO for the small business tax relief. Need I say more ,give this some serious thought.

This campaign is dominated by negative advertising on both sides. However, it is not a lie to state that Senator Reid does not represent the positions of most Nevadans; rather, he represents the interests of the national Democratic agenda which are not in tune with most of us here. Frankly, a candidate randomly picked from the street would represent Nevadans better than Senator Reid. As far as Republicans being the party of "no", it is better to say no than to go along with ideas that will make the country worse off.
Harry Reid supports illegal aliens and criminals in a general way. How is "inflammatory"? It's just a known fact.

If the Dream Act is all Dirty Harry Reid can do for Nevada, he needs to go! Throw that bum out and send him back to Searchlight, where he can help their fat cop write tickets to unsuspecting motorists who are trapped speeding through their little town. Reid has been sucking at the public teat far too long--it is time for him to either retire or get an honest job. Maybe he could get a job at one of the casinos, riding a bicycle through the parking garages, and rousting drunken tourists sleeping in their cars.
The facts of this ad might not be correct but the truth is that Reid IS trying to legalize these blood sucking illegal parasites. Who cares if they are in school or not they are still here illegally and wasting our tax money. This is Reid's last ditch attempt to the get the Mexican vote because he has a good chance of losing!

Tonymann, that's the point. Many didn't like Reagan's amnesty. Even Reagan himself regretted going with the Democratic congress on it. All it lead was to ten times more illegals coming with many hoping they can also become citizens. Fool us once, shame on us. Jenlv, this is the "family argument" that lawyers use to keep illegals in the country. In Mexico they know it's wiser to come into the country and make babies then be single. So we now have a flooded school system of children of illegals that we can't afford to educate coupled with welfare and healthcare subsidized by taxpayers because a family of 4 making 25,000 can't make a living. Why aren't you condemning Angle for lying? The reporter in the video correctly points out that Angle lied aboutt 2/3 of Reid's votes.

So Harry Reid is pushing Part 2 of the Democrat's Illegals Amnesty "The Dream Act." Part 1 is Obama's refusal to enforce the laws on Illegal Immigrants' deportations, e-verify, or to closing the Border.
Harry Reid would not bring up a comprehensive immigration reform that protects our citizens.
Instead Harry Reid is hiding amnesty in a manager-markup (remember the Health Care add-ons) of an un-related must pass bill. Reid is holding Bills Hostage.

Every ad that Angle runs is, at best, "distorted" -- to call them outright ridiculous is more accurate.
Take her ads in which she tries to blame Harry Reid for the decline in property values in the valley since he became Senate Majority Leader, for example. In reality, people who jumped on the "real estate values can only appreciate" bandwagon and who bought homes here after 2002 simply paid too much for their homes and that fact isn't Reid's, nor Obama's, nor Bush's fault. A family that bought a home here in 1996 when Reid was well-established as a Senator and sold it ten years later would have made a very nice profit on that house -- would Angle give Reid credit for that scenario?
In case the Tea Party extremists haven't noticed, this valley is incredibly overbuilt, and market forces created a speculative bubble, driven by the misguided belief that real estate values can only increase. I'm sorry for those who held that belief and overpaid for their homes, but to try and exploit homeowners' frustration and hold Harry Reid somehow accountable for this is just pathetic.
If anyone thinks that a complete incompetent like Angle will somehow magically restore the value of their house, they might as well already go ahead and buy investment properties in Fantasyland.
That's all she does is distort facts about Harry Reid. She changes and distorts her positions on vitually every issue she's spoken about, social security, immigration, education, unemployment and the one I really love is that government has gotten too big. What she forgets to mention is that huge federal government pension paycheck that hits her account every month already. Also, she forgets to mention that if she wins, she and her hubby will be getting phenomonal health coverage for the rest of their pathetic lives as she complains about Obamacare because god knows, the common folks aren't entitled to the perks she is (even if they're paying for hers). But she wants to cut our kids' education, she wants our unemployed to be homeless, and the social security crowd to get screwed out of what they paid into their entire lives. Hmm, wonder if her hubby is collecting???? Oh, and don't forget the second, even bigger pension check she'll be getting if she wins. What do you have to say about that, Sharron? Ya willing to give that up? Or do just want everyone else to give up theirs? What a pathetic hypocrit! She's always yakking out of both sides of that big, toothy, phoney smile.

This is the same as the lie that was told about undocumented immigrants being covered by the ACA. Those pushing the lie knew it wasn't true, but that didn't stop them from convincing their supporters that it was and getting them to oppose something that will eventually lower healthcare costs and help their kids and grandkids.
There was an article on ajc.com a couple weeks ago about how undocumented immigrants on dialysis are having problems with continuing their treatments without insurance. Due to rising healthcare costs, some hospitals are no longer able to write off the costs of dialysis for undocumented immigrants. The article stated that undocumented immigrants who don't have insurance will not be covered under the Affordable Care Act.

This article is almost laughable after all the distortions and spinning Reid has been doing in his ads! One has to wonder if the author of this article ever wishes she could be a journalist instead of a Reid hack.
All Reid has done is smear Angle. Reid has yet to run on the issues, and we've seen what he's done to the economy with the failed stimulus, Obamacare, all the regulations which cost jobs.
How about Reid's milk ad? He carved out a deal for a non-producing dairy and caused a producing dairy to have to truck its milk all the way to California in order to get the full "Class 1" allowable price for drinking milk. Then pick up cheap overbase milk from California and bring it to Las Vegas.
Because of the special deal Reid cut for one dairy -- it put another one at a disadvantage with others in the milk producing businesses in our region. Therefore, that dairy invested over $100 million in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas where it now directly employs hundreds of workers and generates much-needed tax revenue and economic activity which otherwise would have benefited Nevada.

There is a lot more here at stake than a couple of comments by Angle. Where is the reporting on the litany of mistruths in all of Harry Reid's ads? Also, where is the reporting on how shameful it is of Harry Reid to attach this to a combat funding bill? So now if a Republican votes against it, the libs will all scream that the Republicans voted against combat funding. Nice move Harry.
All I can say is Ralston and Ms. Damon should be added to Harry's list of "pets." God knows they aren't qualified, or credible, journalists. They are hacks and bush league writers at best with an agenda.
And by the way, I'm an independent and voting for none of the above. But if Harry keeps this up, I may vote for Angle.

So what do you propose to do xtra? The Dream Act requires they join the Military or go to college for an education. Would you rather they just stay and work under the table? There's a difference between distorting or "spinning" the facts, e.g. blaming Reid or any one person for the implosion of the economy, and lying which is what Angle's new ad does. As noted by the reporter, Reid's actual votes were the opposite of what Angle is claiming they were in 2 cases.
And then Angle hires people to make statements like this: "Reid hobbits cant defend Reid. Reid cant defend Reid. So they name call, and smear, and distort, and outright lie." The irony.
Distortion is easier to see. It doesn't make sense when you think about. Lying is harder to see because you have to do research to find the facts.

Once again, having nothing worthwhile to contribute to the discussion, TonyCrago spews his venom. Truth be known, no candidate, Republicrat or Dumbocrat, is perfect, so we have to choose between the "lesser of two evils." Hopefully, we will choose those that do not, when running for office, say one thing, then go back, be it to Carson City or Washington, DC, and do just the opposite. I don't care if that is Berkeley, Titus, Heller, Ensign or Reid. Check their records, hold their feet to the fire and vote for one of them or their opponents who you believe will best serve the interests of all of us. Illegals have always become instant citizens when they enlist--I found that out in basic training in 1972. Automatic citizen once through basic training--no need to actually fight overseas--as per my current neighbor who enlisted years ago and used legislation signed by Pres Johnson--only sons don't have to go to war zones--even if only sons of illegals.
These are the facts on Reid. He's for amnesty for illegal immigrants, health care reform, raising taxes, cap and trade and makes back room deals. If you can live with this vote for him just don't complain later.

@Vidiveritas, I would ask the same question to the Dems and Harry Reid - I haven't heard any solutions being offered from EITHER Party so let's be fair and ask that question of BOTH Parties. BOTH Parties have done nothing but snipe away at their opponent - so quick to take snippets of conversations and try to pawn them off as fact - well the only real fact I know is that NEITHER Party has YET to tell us what they will DO for US, the fine citizens of Nevada.

At least Reid works toward solutions even when he is wrong and especially when he gets no support from the Republicans even when it is a good thing (Dream act). Angle has nothing positive to offer, or if she does I have yet to hear it.
I have never voted for anyone that won an election in my 40 years history of voting, and I didnt intend to vote for Reid either. But Angle and her supporters are such hater freaks I may change my mind.
