Former State Sen. Joe Heck, a Republican running in one of the most closely watched congressional races in the country, launched his first television ad today.
The ad introduces Heck as an emergency room doctor, an Army reservist, a small businessman and family man—anything but a politician.
“We can trust Dr. Joe Heck because in difficult times nothing is more important to him than caring for our families,” the narrator says.
Heck is challenging U.S. Rep. Dina Titus, D-Las Vegas, who won the 3rd Congressional seat in 2008, taking it away from Republicans for the first time since its creation. The district, however, remains split and with the anti-incumbent mood out there, Heck is strongly in contention.
Republicans believe winning this seat could mean taking control of Congress.

great, another annoying ad. is it november yet?
Do we have to see this ped look alike add also? Reid and Angles were bad enough!
Titus has earned the deep, grass roots support of her district because she is not a politician but a public servant. Just watch on election day...all the people who know Dina for the accessable, genuine, and competent representative that she is will get to the polls and re-elect her. Titus will win again as she should.
If he is such a good doctor, maybe we should just keep him in Nevada?
Go Dina!
You mean, he was never in the State Senate and so never had to lie about Ann O'Connell's voting record?
they need doctors in Nevada and public servants in Washington - vote for the best woman for the job
Gee somone plugging an outfit that helped McCain lose?
Angle and Heck ads are not good. GOP is not supporting Angle, they like Reid and know Angle is a KOOK.
Dina Titus is doing a great job for Nevada and
the United States.
Republicans have done enough damage and run on
a platform of complete failure.
What the Heck, a doctor against health care
reform?
SAVE NEVADA AND OUR COUNTRY,
VOTE DINA TITUS.
Heck and Angle do not represent "mainstream America".
"Today, 77% of Americans and 68% of Republicans believe that policymakers in Washington should "leave Social Security alone" and find other ways to reduce the deficit, according to a national poll in June by the University of New Hampshire. In fact, 75% of tea party supporters favor Social Security and Medicare, a New York Times/CBS News poll found in April.
There are still a handful of Americans who bash Social Security. They dress up their arguments in different clothing, but their views haven't changed much from those of their counterparts 75 years ago." http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/08......
"Support for Social Security is found in virtually all segments of the American population. The opinion that "too little" is being spent on Social Security is shared by majorities of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents; by majorities of men as well as women; by whites as well as African Americans or Latinos; by people with a lot of formal education as well as people with little. Most important, support is very strong among young (age 18-29) Americans, fully 63% of whom told the most recent GSS that we are spending "too little" on Social Security. The supposed generation gap on Social Security is mostly a myth. There is no intergenerational war between "greedy geezers" and the young.
"Finally, abundant evidence from surveys over the years by Bloomberg, NASI, the present authors, Pew, Quinnipiace, and CBS/NYT have all found that majorities of Americans favor raising or eliminating the payroll tax "cap" on high incomes. Most recently, Bloomberg found 78% of Americans saying that removing the cap entirely should be "considered." Last summer, NASI found that fully 83% of Americans supported "lift[ing]" the cap "so that workers earning more than [the cap] would pay Social Security tax on their entire salary just like everyone else." This one policy change, by itself, would erase most of the projected future deficit in the Social Security trust fund." http://www.newdeal20.org/2010/06/29/defi......
"The district, however, remains split and with the anti-incumbent mood out there, Heck is strongly in contention."
You paint a picture that is nonsense. There is no "anti-incumbent mood." That was something cooked up by Fox PORNO (Political Organization-Republican News Only) News meant to target only Democrats, and not Republicans. Out of 373 incumbents in the nation, only 13 of them lost out (Governor Gibbons was one--good riddance).
Mr. Joe Heck is an opportunist. He looks through what positions he thinks he can win in an election, and the ones where he doesn't have a chance, he avoids. And I don't see any ideas he has that will benefit anyone. All I see is another right winger that just wants power, but wishes to demonstrate he is not worthy of wielding it if elected.
For some stupid reason, he believes he can beat Representative Titus.
I doubt it.
Don't matter what he says in his commercials, Representative Titus represents us well in Washington DC. As a retired Navy military veteran, I am adequately represented by her and she actually strives to do her best to serve people in this district.
I'm not changing. I stick with her.
And I will do my part in November to slam the door in the faces of Republicans here in Nevada. They failed us before. They fail us now. And every indications show that if they get into power, they will continue this horrible trend.
Dina Titus:
President Obama's and Nancy Pelosi's puppet. Whatever they want, she votes for just like Harry Reid.
We need Representatives that represent Nevada, not a Socialist Progressive Agenda that lies to the people to get what they want.
Rest assured, as long as Obama/Pelosi and Reid are in power... Las Vegas will continue it's downward slide in becoming a ghost town.
It's a pretty commercial but it doesn't reveal the real Joe Heck. Vote Dina!
Dina Titus is doing and excellent job representing NV CD #3 and has earned our respect and votes in re-electing her!
Heck is a talented doctor and was a big Bushy and for more war - Heck should do the right thing by volunteering to use his talents in Afghanistan treating OUR Wounded Warriors!
Mrs. Angle, Dr. Heck called. He said you've got splinters in the windmills of your mind.
This ad does not tell me anything. I want to know what he is going to do if elected. So, he's a doctor, wonderful. And a good human being. Fine. But, no experience in Govenment. Business and Government are different and right now Nevada needs experienced people. He served in the state legislator? What did he vote on. I remember that in 2007? He voted for the insurance companies so that they did not have to pay for preventive medicine on cervacal cancer for women. Am I correct? I want to know his record. So far I see nothing and if this is all I have got to go on, I disapprove of this vote.
@ Quoyn520,
And everybody in D.C. right now has decades of Government/political experience...
I really hope you don't think they are doing a good job.
Dina Titus just votes with Nancy Pelosi over 99% of the time... failed programs... wasted money.
JustanOguy.....
So you think greedy republicans are doing a
good job?
What planet do you live on?
I'll take Dina and Nancy over any crazy
republican teabaggers.
Greedy republicans only care about the rich.
Dina Titus is a selective public official. She only helps a few while everyone else sinks. This is displayed in her campaign ad, she help a few with foreclosure, while Nevada leads the nation in foreclosure. She voted to pass jobs bill, for union workers, while a majority of service are still unemployed. Its Titus that is letting everyone down. Remember ladies and gentlemen Titus is in Washington, Heck is not. It Titus that passed Health Care Reform, while everyone is struggling to make ends meet, its Titus that passed foreclosure aid, but it fail to help anyone, that is why Nevada leads the nation. Titus passed job bills for unions but fail to get help for everyone. Heck is not in Washington but will fix things and get the economy going in the right direction. Heck will stop the Obama train of federal spending and get Washington books in order. Heck will fight for everyone, not the few. A vote for Heck is a vote to stop Obama and Reid.
