Gov.-elect Brian Sandoval today announced his final cabinet appointments, promoting a cadre of long-time government administrators to new positions.
Replacing Howard Skolnik, the notable director of corrections who retires this year, will be Greg Cox, a veteran employee of the corrections department and current deputy director.
David Gustafson, deputy director of Information Technology will be promoted to director of the department and Chris Perry will be promoted to director of Public Safety.
Michael Fischer will remain as director of Cultural Affairs, which is set to begin closing many of the state’s museums and the historical society in preparation for coming budget cuts.

"Finishes" cabinet appointments? Not quite. Wildlife is still un-named, though its rumored that the former director will become acting director. Would be wise decision, but we'll see.
Interesting line up of personnel. Closing the museums and historical society in preparation for budget cuts is very interesting as reported.
Perhaps some Nevadans see this as an improvement in the budget as such places of interest to tourists are often considered as a waste of money that could be used elsewhere such as in economic development to provide jobs for the middle class technicians. However the use of such political thinking is rather over the rim of the canyon because the museums and historical society is part of economic development and tourism whether there is any cutting of budget to avoid a more stringent look at the use of money in other departments such as for private payment charged to the state for private spa use and private plane use by employees of the state. Not hardly a chargeable use of money to the State of Nevada or hardly a reason for cutting the budget to fit the balance of the budget.
Recall the governor!
