Karl Rove’s independent expenditure group American Crossroads is jumping from the television screen into the ground game.
The 527 organization announced today it will run a get out the vote effort in Nevada and seven other states. Republicans in Nevada are sorely in need of a ground game, which has been largely absent for the party since President Bush’s last victory in 2004.
American Crossroads will spend $10 million in the eight states on its ground game and will coordinate with other independent groups to augment the effort targeting conservative voters.
The group has already spent heavily on television ads against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
That turd of a man & his stupid, stupid boss destroyed this country and sent thousands of kids to their deaths in Iraq!
After predicting a 'permanent majority' for the GOP the Pillsbury Dough Boy failed miserably to deliver.

The Most Fiscally Irresponsible Government in U.S. History
There is an instinctive conclusion among the American public that President Obama's stimulus package has failed to create a sustained recovery. Unemployment has increased, not declined; consumers have retrenched; housing starts have crashed along with mortgage applications; and there is a fear that a double-dip recession may very well be in the pipeline.
But let's not forget, current budgetary trends are capable of destroying the country. As Bowles pointed out, according to a Washington Post report, we can't just grow our way out of this. We can't just tax our way out of this. We have to do what governors do--cut spending or increase revenues in some combination that will begin to pull us back from the cliff.
Obama must know that if he doesn't address this, he will be the president who drove us toward a debt crisis. And so too must Congress, for both have now participated in the most fiscally irresponsible government in American history.

I will certainly take you up on that:
1) Reagan--tripled the national debt while cutting taxes for the wealthy (hence reducing income) and increasing government spending. Reagan single-handedly transformed America from a lending nation into a debtor nation.
2) Bush I--doubled the national debt in 4 years, while continuing Reagan's economic policies. A recession at the end of his term got him booted out of office.
3) Clinton--balanced the budget and began paying off the national debt incurred by the previous two presidents. He created a budget surplus by the end of his 8-year term. If the U.S. had followed Clinton's plan, the entire U.S. debt would have been paid off by 2009.

This is the sordid economic history of the last three Republican presidents. And it is a story that no Republican will mention (it is "taboo" amidst the party) and that of course the Australian billionaire, Rupert Murdoch (ooops! I mean FOX NEWS) does not want the American people to dwell upon either. Hence FOX will never mention it.
The Republicans' basic strategy for diverting attention away from their own catastrophic economic record is to:
1) never mention it
2) encourage everyone to "look forwards, and not back"
3) when anyone does mention it, to say "there you go, blaming Bush again!"
4) blame the present administration for having created the enormous debt in the first place, which of course is an outright lie
5) accuse the present administration of "not balancing the budget" when of course they well know that many economists recommend that the govt temporarily ignore balancing the budget and instead try and "stimulate" an economy stuck in a severe recession.
6) whenever possible, to try and focus people's attention elsewhere--anywhere but on their own past track record--such as on race or boy scout meetings or mosques in NYC.
Pathetic. But it does remind me of the old saying: "you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time--but you can't fool ALL of the people ALL of the time."

Look guys - I can do this back and forth with you as well as anyone. Here is the issue at hand.
We have given the Democrats 4 years of complete control of Congress and the results have been just short of disaster. I think any reasonable thinking person would agree to that. If you are a Union member you are not a reasonable thinking person if that helps with the definition.
Angle is not the perfect candidate and we will not find a perfect candidate. She has been very competent in her assignments up to this point in time. She deserves a chance to go back there and turn things around.
This is a simple vote that Harry Reids job performance has been totally unacceptable and he must be terminated. It is that simple.

From 2001 - 2007 America gave the GOP complete control of Congress, plus two more years for Bush to complete the destruction. They almost succeeded but for the voters finally realizing a deep ditch is no place to be.

The truth, of course, is that the president creates and submits the annual budget to Congress. COngress then sends the budget back to the president for his signature. If he does not like it, then he can veto it.
So much for the myth that only Congress is in charge of the budget!

And I still say that Karl Rove, along with others from that Presidency, should all be hauled into court and prosecuted for the murder of 4,415 American troops in Iraq. They KNEW it was a war started under false pretenses. And the blood of those brave fighters is on their hands. Our troops were used as political pawns by them to stay in power. And any prosecutor could EASILY get a conviction. Because their efforts led directly to those deaths.

Karl Rove could easily be labeled the Joseph Goebbels of America. His tactics and strategy is to use the "Big Lie" propaganda of the Nazi's to brainwash the citizens by telling lies, even preposterous lies, and repeat them over and over.
The McCarthyism label could also be applied to Rove. Make false accusations against anyone that poses a threat. Libel and slander them as socialists, Communists, or just use any negative label.

We both sign the labor agreement. The main reason we need a union is because some of the bosses become cruel and mean. We use the union to keep the sorry bosses off our backs.

I knew Rove would get here soon after Angle's numbers went south.
Rove will attack a Reid STRENGTH- not a weakness. In this race it is his sanity over Angle's.
So expect to see at anytime a swift-boat type attack concerning Reid's mental health. They will come up with a psychologist who will swear he has treated Reid-or something to that effect.
Both Angle and Reid are very religious-and have remained faithful to their spouses-so Rove can't pull the "black baby" attack as he did on McCain in S.Carolina in 2000.
So we ALL can expect something totally unexpected coming out of Rove.- He considers dirty tricks to be just ole college pranks.

We remember what the GOP has done to our schools,(no child left behind UNFUNDED!) we remember how the GOP wanted to keep our health-care on status quo, we remember how the GOP gave away the keys to big business, including the Supreme Court giving corporations the rights of a citizen so they can further corrupt our elections.

Angle wants to replace the FEDERAL Dept of Education with a STATE Dept of Education. So the STATE and Local gov't have more control.-----------

bookofdoubt: Where are you coming from? Where did you get your information? How many political meetings have you attended? Are you working for Angle's campaign? Your use of repetition is a pretty clear giveaway. So you're either copying political operatives or you are one.
Your economic education is clearly lacking. You really believe you can just blame the politicians in office when the unemployment rate rises? Well, why then are you just blaming Dems? What about Ensign and Gibbons? Where is their responsibility?
First of all blaming any president or congress member specifically for unemployment rates or even the state of the economy as a whole is rather naive. Presidents and congress do not have a magic wand nor fiat power. They are not in control of the economy.
If it's about more than the timeline, what specific policies of Reid's caused Nevada's high unemployment? Can you name specific pieces of legislation? Merely calling him incompetent is not enough. You have to give us criteria and then show us empirically how he has failed. It can't be just the unemployment rate. Reid has been in office a long time. The rate has both fallen and risen during his tenure. If he gets the blame for high unemployment than he should get the credit for low unemployment rates. And you should be able to tell us exactly what he did to cause unemployment to rise.
Our current unemployment rate is the result of fear and foolish deregulation. We allowed the financial arm of our economy to grow too big. We all did that, either through ignorance, inattention, or design. So it is not solely the fault of any one group. Democrats and Republicans are equally to blame. But then again we, the citizens of our great nation, have to take our fair share of the blame too. I am so tired of voters who just parrot sound bites without doing a modicum of research on their own. "Fire Harry Reid?" You don't even have to spend a second to read that in an internet add.
I think way too few of us ever bother to get an economic education. Nor do we do a good job of holding our representatives accountable. Too many of us act like we're rooting for a sports team. Our votes should not be about loyalty.
BofD's argument that any politician is better than Reid is just plain dumb. You could look at this very simply. Ask yourself what a politician's job is. Then ask yourself how they go about accomplishing that. A politician has to be capable of reasoning and negotiating with others. By one measure alone Angle would be a disastrous choice: Respect. Angle does not have the respect of her own party members, to say nothing of her opponents. But then you have to ask yourself if her stubbornness was good for Nevada. Ultimately, I don't think Angle is able to connect the dots between her ideological beliefs and their practical effects. Taxes are not inherently evil. They are simply the mechanism society uses to pay for things we value or use. It's like Angle asks herself if any given issue is right or wrong and then stops thinking. If all you are looking for is a "no" vote, we could send a rubber stamp to congress and save ourselves 175K.
Equating Yucca Mountain with the French nuclear program is completely disingenuous. Charlie Rose recently interviewed the CEO of Areva (largest nuclear power company in France), Anne Lauvergeon (Atomic Anne), and when he asked her why the US does not recycle nuclear waste the way the French do, she had no real answers. (She did speculate on some reasons, such as Three Mile Island) Yucca is meant to store nuclear waste after it has been transported across the country, by rail no less (Rail has even less security than our ports). We have no security system in place to handle that. I do not know about anyone else, but I do not want nuclear waste traveling along the vast stretches of lonely tracks. I think that is a security nightmare.
My grandfather died of cancer caused by his work at the Nevada test site. I really do not feel like another Nevadan needs to give up his life for an ill thought out, wasteful program. Yucca was a nonstarter from the get go. Basically we've been wasting money for decades. Money that would have been far better spent advancing our technology and developing a nuclear waste recycling program.
Our nuclear power plants are generations behind France's. The French recycle the vast majority of their nuclear waste. We will not be able to rival their technology for decades to come. I'm not opposed to nuclear power in general, but I am opposed to generating tons of waste and transporting it across the country so that even more Nevadans can put their lives in jeopardy, to say nothing of the lives risked along the railroad tracks.
If BofD understood Nevada's nuclear history, he wouldn't champion Yucca Mountain. No true Nevadan ever would. Nevada has given enough blood in service to nuclear power. We do not need to give anymore.
Does it bug anyone else that Angle went outside this state for her political team? Look at who created her website. The Prosper Group is not home grown talent. And she is certainly not being upfront about where most of her campaign contributions are coming from. Her own website states that she thinks campaign fiance reform should include immediate disclosure of large contributions. But this information is not available on her site. Why does she need to wait for legislation requiring this? What is stopping her now? You do have to give the Prosper Group credit for cleaning up and raising the intelligence quotient of her site. Still it's not their best work.
