Wayniac alert! Wayne Newton to play a week at MGM Grand this summer

It's Wayne's World, we just live in it.

The Wayner will be performing at the MGM Grand's Hollywood Theatre for one week this summer.

He'll be performing at 8:30 p.m. July 31 through Aug. 6.

Vegas icon Wayne Newton, who gained some widespread publicity last year appearing on "Dancing With the Stars," waltzed away from an engagement at the Flamingo in November.

He blamed the cancellation on a heart virus.

But apparently his heart didn't affect his feet as he traveled the country making appearances soon after the cancellation.

An announcement about the upcoming show at the MGM should be made next week. He's scheduled to perform Oct. 16-22 and Nov. 13-19 at the MGM Grand.

But tickets for the summer shows are on sale now. The price is $65; the box office number is 891-7777.

Newton performed his first Vegas show at the Flamingo in 1963 and has performed more than 30,000 shows here. The 66-year-old performer has become known as Mr. Las Vegas. Although he's best known for the song "Danke Schoen," he performed "Viva Las Vegas" at the NBA All-Star Game at the Thomas & Mack Center in 2007.

Party on. Excellent.
