Self-sabotage on “Idol”?

OK, it’s not about Vegas, but it is the number one TV show in the U.S., so I’m blogging in about tonight’s final four sing-off:

Did anyone else out there get the feeling that dread-ful Jason Castro intentionally sacrificed himself for Syesha tonight? Jason all but winked at the camera after his intentionally tossed-off, flub-filled performances. And choosing to sing the cop-killing apologia “I Shot the Sheriff” for the the arch-conservative “Idol”? Really? And then dropping the easiest part of the twisty lyric to “Mr. Tambourine Man” but remembering the rest?

And did it seem to you like David Cook was flipping the “Idol” audience the bird with his malnourished performance of “Hungry Like the Wolf” (from the whole Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he picks Duran Duran? Really?). And then he repeats “it’s only teenage wasteland,” over and over again, staring knowingly at the tween-packed studio “mosh pit” in his second song, The Who’s “Baba O’Riley.” Hmmm.

Randy seemed confused by tonight’s self-sabotages, but I think Simon knew what was going on…

Paula, well, she looked pretty tonight.

Maybe it’s just me. Comments welcome.

  1. I agree! Why would Jason say what he said? He said oh maybe I'm tired and ready to go home or something to that effect! But, didn't he say that after the vote on Tuesday night? Anyway, I don't think he would have won anyway. I think that David Archuleta will win it! He's a cute kid with a great voice!
