A 44-year-old man was killed early this morning in a one-vehicle accident near the Rhodes Ranch Golf Club in southwest Las Vegas, according to Metro police.

The name of the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, has not yet been released, pending notification of relatives, police said.

The accident happened at 12:25 a.m. today on Pine Shores Parkway, 578 feet east of Painted Mountain Drive, police said.

Evidence at the scene indicates the 2006 Ford U-Haul moving van was traveling west on Pine Shores Parkway when the driver "exited onto the roadway," police said in their report.

"Due to the vehicle being in motion, the driver was struck and dragged underneath," police reported.

The vehicle then hit a block wall and stopped.

The fatality accident, which is still under investigation by Metro police, is the 53rd so far this year in the Las Vegas area.
