Metro police are trying to find the driver of a white SUV who hit and critically injured a Las Vegas man late Wednesday night.
Antonio Gomes, 47, was transported to UMC Trauma Center and was listed in critical condition following the accident, which occurred about 11:22 p.m. Wednesday just northwest of the Stratosphere Hotel Casino and Tower.
Police said Gomes was driving his 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup truck from the Stratosphere parking garage onto northbound Fairfield Avenue. He pulled his pickup over to the east curb, just south of Philadelphia Avenue, stopped and got out.
Just then, a northbound white SUV, a 2004-2005 Lincoln Navigator, struck Gomes and his pickup truck, police said. The white SUV, which would have damage to its right front end near the headlight, fled the scene first north on Fairfield, then east on Philadelphia, police said.
Police are asking for anyone with information about the SUV, or its driver, to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or Detective R. Tusko at 828-4341.
